(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor! g U+ X! i; S$ d
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
% @% t D* B$ v5 I2 L1 r(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor/ L4 J y! H. q* ~: m7 i4 R% Y
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
~% Q2 l; Z& U/ _7 z(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,/ f/ L0 I- x) b
permit another person8 s7 F7 ^; Y( W# w; B: Q
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or" F: F; @/ O% K% I
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
8 Z# T' e9 ?- u! runless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
/ n; `' W! {1 o4 G(d) give or lend a financial
( M( F W- I5 D. Zresponsibility card or a copy of it# ~" a1 J! ]) |( V; _
to a person not entitled to have that financial% }: C* n9 c7 D& K, }( T
responsibility card or copy. i" M* b9 ~8 L0 {1 V
(1.1); n- M' G3 j4 w9 \
If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway0 Q+ h ]9 D" v' j# i# I
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of: ~( T( q% H$ F3 ?: j- \
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection- p3 W& E5 j e" ^
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is2 ^ ?. ]2 L& @; R# C8 [& P
not an insured motor vehicle.

. V5 o' y; }1 a! J- {If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
) V5 H, m! T9 y& D( a+ K. `Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this5 v- Q$ e8 W. Y$ ~4 q6 G
section.

6 a7 h1 C( x a% `; RSubsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
% D& q) U6 n% J- V, A0 kfinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
( \& e( ~9 g& ]Insurance Act
' s% G0 f7 Y9 }" Kby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
# X/ d ~3 C+ H1 m3 x# i& u& i. Ioutside Alberta.

& `& Z/ |" Z* u7 l, a& _6 N! uA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection; \) V" \! { f! Q% p
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,! N$ |! M2 l3 f" a/ L2 f- h) Z1 U U
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $25000 ~! `# [: f' a
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
- Y8 l- H; M+ ?/ e! Jimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
. E& Q$ s7 ^- Z: R7 mmore than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
