3 w% a  J. K5 m3 ?; B# f4 C3 x! E4 O
7 m5 @. o( m4 }2 k8 \! h* d
$ _" k5 z3 f8 ]- E5 w: L
(1) You can not teach an old dog new tricks ── 照字面意思是:你不能教老狗学新的把戏。 (Some people find it impossible to change their ways; or older people can not accept the changes or new ideas.)
. D9 D5 m5 L7 W& n7 O
7 x  Y+ V9 b  f3 Y" a( E# b# [: H9 AStop trying to teach an old dog new tricks; you are just wasting time.(别想教老狗新花样,你只是白花时间。) ; P* H- k7 A2 o- t# y- U: m& A/ _
Are you trying to teach an old dog new tricks? 8 b; i% e" ^0 ~# z/ l
He is impossible. Don't try to teach an old dog new tricks.(impossible 是指顽固成性、墨守成规的人。) 5 f) t7 v& z6 }' N' Y

(2) All that glitters is not gold. (not every beautiful thing is valuable. All is not gold that glitters.
* P3 L1 d% t! H" \0 [4 C* q# j  ]6 ?  W7 j, c/ E  t. Y
I told my students that all that glitters is not gold. " y! u( V" ]: g9 O# L9 @

(3) Pepole (或 Those) who live in glass houses should not throw stones (或 rocks) ── 照字面的意思是:住在玻璃屋里的人不可丢石头。 (Nobody is perfect, so we should not criticize others.)
% R' q, l  i% _. L. A9 k1 i% S3 H) \3 S. @

, o5 u- Q+ o* i(judge = criticize; have walked a mile in his shoes = have understood his situation well enough) 7 U! Z7 I8 ^, [: @6 _. J) H' j  _+ K
4 ^% p+ p4 p; i" g% l; s- k% u  f
Judge not lest ye be judged.

; r, o9 I/ p" g. }; n' F. S1 f6 ^
