# S1 ~6 }3 W( o! S/ g4 Z( u* e* j  m9 A4 y% d$ n3 S
        1. I couldn't care less. 8 a' }' W" g& M& m. Y+ @8 P* S, w! |
% c% w8 D) b& p% E* O8 o2 F
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
" n- K7 R1 n4 U8 H/ h8 _  n! A- |$ p. w: `0 ~: ?$ w( _" w3 _
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) * n" s$ k0 H0 o" z6 J1 I

' ]! J3 H7 u8 o+ O  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) 6 q+ J( l( X! C( U5 L! d0 h3 z
$ d, D. D9 ?1 V/ }. f
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) ; M  r( E; R0 E
  Z, r3 |) P# s3 S4 K& _! F* [
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) 5 y1 c: }) e6 K- B: [
$ K8 G% L* [# j3 O- a$ C
2 a3 A( q5 f. V  z& e4 s
9 F+ k; ?0 q. R% c9 N' o1 u- O  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
- s% _) @4 S; t* c& r
5 p) V6 m: q% y: d! h. Yes, you do(care). 9 z; u$ t- R5 B  W6 y
& n0 w" h1 a& h: C  {
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
0 R( Q, b* q3 t3 S/ i2 V9 \% z( H; p+ g* @# f% Z
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
8 K* R5 G, l0 U5 V7 M
" O7 G( x7 R& R' H% r  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
9 T7 O9 q1 H! ?' e& B8 [$ L, B% i# u  Q3 ?5 e
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. , N5 S3 a: a/ b9 r% J

" K6 T. h: s3 u2 s  d, {: n- m& {* l! G- `+ O" k* c3 b
  I couldn't be more wrong.
, O/ z* v3 l! w$ L% d1 o6 x  A! t8 z/ W$ ~( [5 K0 l3 f

I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) 8 Y1 Q/ i# @( e( I/ e
/ e" v; H4 n; T2 h) t+ f4 M3 D
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
" L5 r- G# u: P! K4 \. @- p9 P) N/ o% e& F2 O0 _' }% F# x
  2. No bones about it.
( [+ d2 Z+ [& Z; N3 b
$ r5 w/ w: a1 V& M  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
; K6 |  q5 _  P1 k2 P  ~
: H7 F3 x  s3 h  l  W7 \3 l  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) " C9 F, C# Z/ Q3 k  h! u$ i
/ z0 Z: ^- l  D9 L& q3 K  X5 z
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
6 q) A4 G) Q0 b
8 b$ @2 u) l; `3 K& U) G7 ]  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法)
+ g9 M% X) H, V8 B" K1 I2 e0 |) M3 h
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
4 v" m3 N4 n! T' A- l$ `
7 G2 _! p4 O7 J  3. take it on me!
* c7 X" c1 c! H5 R. h8 u, [# w- q9 l
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
( e' ^' c. r% Z2 @& n5 f' h# S9 F9 P; ?6 k9 X1 P: ^0 L# C* ]" X
  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) ) Y) Q# A8 Y  K7 T7 v7 P

8 I. \( v1 x; K, s7 ?% ^" }  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." (餐馆老板对我说:“尝尝我的甜点吧!”)
3 u" s1 P% I: [" F6 x2 f  ], j- J4 z( R6 K- e
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
' o( a" p, K: k, x1 O/ T
. m% ~/ R4 q* T  A0 r8 g5 ~3 ? ; P, M. I3 b3 B  ^, Z: p! p* E3 \5 w0 ]
9 |7 G+ M9 a, s0 ]. C0 o
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
2 A' M9 y8 K0 |0 p5 y4 R3 O4 a% [
  4. I am from Missouri.
  Y$ A9 r; `* w0 d  L0 W% i: s# N% f8 V1 g6 I6 l( c
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
( a/ Z  B8 R; p2 F3 Q8 P

# }, h2 s* e) U4 |/ c  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
2 `9 t7 n& M' x4 L/ Z
# M' o. G! n- f9 J) e  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) 5 h5 d: N6 S( R* O/ D+ x+ u/ y

6 v+ |8 p) t. G; T5 [  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
6 U+ F  x( f6 q! b7 P) l% l+ ^, `' k/ j: t- @" F) V
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
