$ N4 S" e  v' C) ^
+ a7 {; Y, o1 v+ D; R/ Q" P        1. I couldn't care less.
( e) P, H7 Z( r" S# g, {* ~# _$ {- ?7 o4 y4 s7 W" j% O
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: 3 H/ F+ x0 P% Q; D% n

$ t) O" {4 i" \6 s1 z% v  人家如果问: What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) ' Y7 K2 r2 \8 [; \# d+ Q
; D* Q. m  C6 F! k$ l, Q4 `
7 x: Z9 A" ]& y% A
/ l% I9 O- P1 s- N$ o0 c( `2 B3 ]. Y  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
" X# k9 |+ b7 k) K( n# H: P8 u+ D& Q# e0 n  J5 |' s
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) 5 ^3 {: f3 t2 e- B/ b
7 B1 d& @* M) J1 K
. Z' F0 u: w0 w; z: y& `2 O, w3 e4 V' Z
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
1 n1 J! V( ?7 E# N9 E8 Z1 G  M# N
Yes, you do(care). ' ^- D- u: V: ^" _3 |0 ^4 A
3 q& x/ K8 u5 {: o
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
8 S+ S" X3 k- l9 }4 f) k' s1 K( v/ J: p# w
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) 9 S/ s( m* f* J
; F4 b+ Q, a. R/ K* t5 }: u/ }
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴) + k0 [( C$ j( M1 o. s% N% J
* `. Y2 @# ?3 j) ], B5 s3 @7 ^
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. 6 V. L6 v0 p* f( w0 ]
, }0 l& T1 A( b' v( g2 w; b
& h6 d# _- T( J6 y6 F. d( h4 b) e* J: H2 `
  I couldn't be more wrong. ( N/ a: h; {: M! c* i

. X5 }( @. a8 C5 M  @  T!
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
- S$ S! [8 Q  V
0 {0 n. n# `" x  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
4 h  a# M! G1 W# K0 U4 e  P+ N! q) n% Q3 ^
  2. No bones about it.
" N# }8 E0 V4 ]* c8 e7 [+ p5 c5 t1 S% Z+ |
  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
! d' u7 _' e1 J" r" ^0 Z' i! `* u1 k  X2 I
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) * e& R/ L& n3 ^( F

: a* [7 }( q. R5 j% m- e  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
8 ~* G5 C3 }6 K0 a- D. |- u' ~# [- E/ ]1 d( ^+ R4 U0 Q" k% F
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) * D# V# L4 q& d. z5 u4 |' ], ?9 N

9 Z( O1 W5 G) Q( a6 ^  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
& j2 Y+ [  r2 F3 {6 E% K- i/ [3 `4 H& L# y  o- W
  3. take it on me!
' e7 d' }6 y% n0 k5 b4 z- r% d8 Z6 q5 n7 G
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: : [6 X/ M7 g. n% x9 x
1 x! ]6 O5 P" X. _4 S2 v
  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy)
- d2 X8 D# L- _0 M+ d5 l% J' ^, ^$ [: b1 `/ p$ g  m* M+ r
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." / O4 B8 n& Z3 @

1 |8 A  ~" M; q3 w9 f/ n$ G6 l  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) (也许铅笔上刻有名字,做为宣传之用而免费。)
; N2 F4 P) M5 A9 p5 A3 o- q: |$ u
  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。
# c* }0 d# u5 b3 g: K, B* m! x9 m5 x
( J  D$ M- h3 U8 O9 B9 o  |  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) 1 P& i( Q; i' e) d" t* Z
( Z  N1 ]9 W1 |- p5 ~+ P
  4. I am from Missouri. $ d: }' c  [0 ]5 F! b6 F7 J; M$ }

# W( b' `$ c7 i4 P! M  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
9 I& U9 [/ K9 ~8 n' n- T% w1 {1 D1 K- u
) H5 s, V" w% l* [( Y  m& _- r" i; z* b, ?2 I( Y& V- P
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. 3 ?7 Y! B! N5 Z) }" w0 I

6 r& b! L. Q; v) q7 K3 K  H9 ?- ?8 V  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) & k% [- @! E% a. S7 R& S# p
) f1 F/ `% A, w* N9 B
  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
9 I0 j6 e$ o) \2 k7 M9 h$ s9 X8 g. ?0 J2 }/ X& g1 a9 \9 |- @, b0 b
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
