) l7 R& W6 a& _; i$ V  _
5 c# N: a& t$ c; ]        1. I couldn't care less.
8 b! x  P" s( [+ K( S' \4 z% i" O! l" ~. S% J2 ]
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
% T3 _% T! _' p( D$ e! [$ C8 m$ E
3 V1 l* p3 s  m' }( s" |  T5 C  人家如果问: What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
5 F, A& v2 {7 d" D, y6 Z3 R
0 ?# C8 R! H7 p3 T' l  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) ' h$ S: s# P' j( c* o& Y
- Z$ W6 d% {3 O  l5 i
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
* E& t# Z% H) @3 R( D6 `
# z& v- r+ S0 Q2 a+ }: l  r  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
% f- s: f2 P( R, u9 |8 |8 Q2 Q! A  U. S+ o
Y% J' f3 n* [  S% r+ O
  K8 n, p* ?$ a" ^9 Q( N
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) 8 D+ r5 Z1 L; B1 `

Yes, you do(care).
9 J. V- N( K4 ?/ g; @( z+ {1 ?* ?5 ^/ Y' d8 Q8 C* e
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
2 ?  ^3 P0 K. q0 I
* o9 v6 M5 n5 I: A4 t5 l9 t/ C  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) - L1 o# e5 _; E8 Z. k3 N

" u$ ]" Q5 e' S! u! |, L3 c  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
/ x) n  ]  a- R* E) i; M6 m" ?+ b
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. ) s& `: \8 {& B6 r, L
1 a$ m1 {: q, G; {' N

1 }- H6 T0 _7 x2 D  I couldn't be more wrong.
6 Z1 I5 b* e; E3 f1 e: R* r3 G+ v2 x  j( n/ H: U
4 Q) }8 [! `; ]6 X

* a9 t6 D* }) Y* q) p5 D' J+ i  不过,严格来说,I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) 5 h( |  T) [  N& d# _
* r' U! _3 x, B" C! }$ d9 }: J
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
8 L6 p0 y$ ]/ K/ G4 b( c) p* ]( i- ?1 u/ h' P
  2. No bones about it.
5 H3 i: i3 P: ?& @# U, r; F
/ ^: `% a! W' J7 Q" U; A. ^1 h2 [  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如: 8 M2 X7 t$ Q& [& N: a! v- d/ H

1 p( o7 M: [, B! T6 M" K7 q/ Q  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) 6 C8 _( V9 a8 [& [( N

! ]) i) g7 M- {1 r$ ?% C1 s  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) $ T- Q+ V8 N" O5 q7 v

3 H: S9 J4 l0 B5 M  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) ! x% c3 l3 q% y% Y, |% u1 h
" n: R4 u4 G' Q% l5 \
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
. B7 i" l7 g1 k- {0 d
  t+ H' j. s3 l  b" g2 Q7 H( A4 L  3. take it on me!
) [% e2 Q# ~: U" o% T/ l4 D0 Y0 P7 ?2 e- y9 S! ?; e5 K( c
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: ; k: z3 F. D3 b- x$ d  e" u- M( R

% I! d& Z/ c" j* N  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (这是来自英国的糖果,尝一个吧!) (one = candy) # w- O5 f& s2 w/ H
$ \1 G' u$ q; ?, [$ `! d# [
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." * i8 o% @8 G5 T. H: c, ^7 L. ]
" l+ V2 l7 @/ p, U) d1 O
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) 4 B% |3 `, }/ t: I9 G- J- I; V( {( U

; G4 L/ Q. d+ ^( h5 O1 }- e+ B  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。 ' X% N1 P' N' E
( ?5 W; _, l* {- D* ?
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) * D& h% J1 ?9 D. R- L/ ]: ]
! e) j% [0 i: b* t# X* A" ~# Y6 e
  4. I am from Missouri. ; f  ]% o* t0 v5 ~* g/ O
+ Y0 w- v6 r* h! d0 p
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 " D% X1 s  e* g$ ^( ~- i8 t, A$ W/ T
+ h$ ?) @/ G6 k/ P; \
9 a( A" ~' D0 k/ Q1 p( Z! B0 B
; S5 K/ _" _2 ?2 {  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. (他是来自密苏里州,所以不容易说服他。)
# q) u6 l  }: [* q+ T8 w  [3 j* [6 z
, f9 X! A! h7 A- U" h  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) (别愚弄我,我是来自密苏里州。) 2 B  N& G! B9 S1 G6 m; V! y

% m3 Q& `. G+ F3 g9 R6 T  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
) d5 m8 \* M/ B
, V9 d: g' N) R, q. ?; q; m6 J- k  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
