Actress Emma Stone and Oscars show host Seth MacFarlane announced the noms Thursday morning in Beverly Hills, and some smaller, little-seen films were recognized while many blockbuster hits got ignored.

Rounding out nominations for best actress were past nominees Jessica Chastain for "Zero Dark Thirty," Jennifer Lawrence for "Silver Linings Playbook" and Naomi Watts for "The Impossible."

The highest-grossing movie of 2012, "Marvel's The Avengers," scored a single nod for visual effects, while the #2 film of the year, "The Dark Knight Rises," was shut out completely.
