Responsibilities and Tasks: L9 p" a8 P0 o9 r
4 b+ z& n; q6 |& I' S! H3 k6 ^% A" {- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
0 s) O% H) O* H6 u" A$ m% I- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
4 {; H" h3 a. `2 R/ ]1 N- |/ N- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines2 R2 `6 `. p$ G3 R* U
- Select type and size of pipe required/ X* ^* L, L: J' ]& a
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
; m+ o( o* l1 {8 Z- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system3 E1 |. G" E3 S
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems& A' j0 m2 x; f. b2 Q8 U6 g
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
* W |5 t$ b7 H3 o5 B- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system5 J, |) {( P: A) e) i5 g& A
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

Required Qualifications
/ R( h# v5 g. q, ]3 r( p7 v$ o- C# R& P$ R% H
- Completion of secondary school0 b8 k: d* Z! F# n9 _) y3 j6 D. [
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation ' U- d: V; S: A1 L @" ^) d V
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Q6 o3 J9 d7 @; {9 f% x8 J- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
) f- H5 w- H, c4 I; A- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
1 B' _ a, P3 o! O _& g- a# J- Safety tickets are considered an asset
