- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment & i" f+ C( A" E# P }. o8 K+ E
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements; u, C8 v! h' |( S, t5 Q- }
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines$ v+ |% ^! N5 U( K( M5 c3 v9 |4 y
- Select type and size of pipe required
; |9 z: T" t9 Y0 |- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
- I6 I: T# v/ s1 f( U- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system* {+ z) ^" q; i' \
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems8 l' K* k! ^* f; [: b, X6 e9 L' L
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
) F; h, u' y( h8 t) O, J2 u" r- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system. ?- R4 Q7 C; X; K- u( U# E
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

- Completion of secondary school
* I# k) _) ]. S: i' E$ `- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation / W/ n$ Z% N1 f4 C) G5 H
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals* N$ _% v( ^: a5 J8 ]
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence) L: r2 C+ Q( g' f. C6 ~
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset$ }7 o+ h, m Q Y% M
- Safety tickets are considered an asset
