Responsibilities and Tasks( G2 k+ R e- S5 k: L
9 N; M7 o; z( B N! t, F7 e
- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
X `9 H3 k* u& ?1 J- v- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements" @, B9 K4 f ^7 m+ n
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines" B! G% m% O; w$ l4 p
- Select type and size of pipe required
- ~0 ~" M: E0 v! r8 N- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
# K M. h' H9 \# k- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system+ _* D" f2 \& A3 |. i, [; {' o' X% v
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems/ r- {. v+ X8 r$ x$ Q! a
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment! p4 v8 N( z6 Y% C q m: n) ?
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system6 z0 X+ G- S& s: Z
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system; j1 z) U% U( u8 j8 g
- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program
& n. }: H# E0 ^! l/ P- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

; V0 q: j$ {" x7 N+ M/ m9 v- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation / T5 X3 D3 ]) `5 E
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
) c7 M3 E! R: [, A/ l- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence3 b# v4 p4 y1 S3 T& M7 _
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset) ], U# E+ M8 u' ~6 G
