Job Title: Program Manager Abbottsfield Youth Project

Job Purpose:
' g$ a' I. S4 V- fTo support the Executive Director with fundraising, special events and will be instrumental in the development of our Social Enterprise. This position will also be working directly with children 6-12 years old to teach life skills such as self esteem, communication skills, peer relations using recreation and physical activities to promote growth. Small group facilitation, one-to-ones, family support, advocacy and referrals are used to achieve program outcomes.

This is a full time, one year term position working 37.5 hours per week with 10-15 hours per week dedicated to the children’s programming. (Continuation of this position will depend on available funding)

/ S+ }2 }8 V( l& n& i0 L2 d• Working together with the Executive Director to solidify new funding opportunities and write funding reports as needed;
. G- t2 e5 s6 N, ^• Supporting in the overall development of programs and activities that benefit our community and our children;% j6 t- }8 l* z9 ~0 s
• Maintaining and evaluating program outcomes;
, F" G9 U6 o% m9 Q9 |- k• Spearheading the further develop our social enterprise; ! Z! Q' ~. M+ Q. T) ^) W5 [
• Risk Management and succession planning;+ K6 }1 |5 `2 [% C: e7 k9 E
2 @; @ K% h1 A, L' \* j4 d* jProgram Duties and Responsibilities include:
( D( t b( }% ~: S" n e• Maintaining comprehensive and objective contact notes related to child or conversations with others about child;7 s2 p, y( p3 _0 s
• Maintaining confidentiality related to all participant information;
: `& N/ Q( c! I: ?; W! I8 }• Liaising and/or advocate with school personnel, parent/guardian, and child, as required;9 k7 X* v* i# `, l6 f9 _ B6 L
• Creatively planning, organizing, and evaluating small group and one-to-one activities
( R2 i" j' n; \8 M• Participating in establishing achievable program outcomes and employ group strategies and activities to achieve the same;' B* d" E; w3 z1 `+ l
• Meeting with participants on a one-to-one basis to help them achieve success with their goals;
9 ~- Z, \4 l% i1 X$ n! ?• Building and maintaining positive relationships with children in groups;

' R% U' T- s# p5 `0 `$ K. }• Degree in communications, human services or related field;7 w5 z) G$ F! l1 r" K4 I. q' y' s
• Extensive knowledge of the not for profit or voluntary sector;, @8 p! |: {" p i, t, \: J* ^0 }
• Knowledge of all federal and provincial legislation applicable to voluntary sector organizations;
/ A2 k) z7 g9 [% h, k' y# R# T• Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in writing funding proposals and reports a must;/ H' @" F: o3 J6 { Z# Y
• The abilities to multi-task, creatively problem solve, communicate effectively, foster teamwork, and build relationships are critical. `0 B8 a6 j4 i( e
• Extensive experience in group facilitation and working with children;: ?# U6 o% x! S( ~
• Current certificates in Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, Suicide Intervention, Standard First Aid and CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are preferred;0 P/ S" @! p# b! r6 A7 X. ^
• Clear CYIM, Security Clearance, and Driver’s Abstract;5 X6 a- Y0 w _# w. q, W4 P1 `& a
• Current valid drivers license;" X' H' g' `7 x5 O$ e& A4 F- D
• Knowledge of and comfort with the implementation of behavioural intervention strategies;
$ [- D! k$ E) q• Conflict resolution skills;
( E" j5 B: n. J: v4 y- n+ B8 Z' t0 n• Clear understanding of professional boundaries;
$ e# @! L0 i- C: v, k& b+ ~" q• Committed and passionate about children;% b+ O0 I% i& L- v/ A
