Job Description:
% W6 _; M1 m7 d) a. W; O• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
2 s3 l1 K: @7 ]) y+ j, }• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
3 O0 c! Q/ Y7 {# c1 L' h( m• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers c% l7 A& B, ?8 w E
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
+ Z) _! p$ N1 V3 \- ?& |* Z6 k M3 a7 w. i• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place2 Y; b3 Y$ Z2 o# v" B' ]
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
e% T6 o# o! T: U• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools; ~3 M! U% ]; S$ r3 k
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
, d0 X" p3 d2 w• Mix paint, blend and match colors
. {' Y/ h% d, W% p) x" Z) ]8 k; g• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns# D/ g) c2 E7 k( Q% m9 O W/ s
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs3 m; E O( N |/ w1 @/ Z2 m
• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation# `# o \. v8 F4 P3 E/ B0 w+ a
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling0 w1 X$ {% O* e8 R$ l& y
Education and Experience Requirements:
, M$ ?3 X# G4 [; s9 N• Completion of secondary school is required
& M3 ~ M- F2 D* @• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program * G1 c% m% l/ H8 v [

A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade I. ~, p7 D' Y4 l
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
