YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
& L: {2 T/ {( ~+ K7 N5 w- Mnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
! G9 P: E% b/ _The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
; o% l9 A# o& ~) Zemployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
7 d. N% r  S/ M5 ^. xthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
0 w6 U) r9 O' v) l  aAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
7 A0 q& g6 Q, _2 c) `and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
# B- A5 f) j& H. c( Pfollow-up once the program is completed.

( M' o+ d' J3 O% V6 K% {Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
