YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
# m$ i# g9 m9 _& }' d# J- S! I) h+ CAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
7 Q9 F, S" y" Z1 O' P: ?* e, G% tnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
0 i( z, l9 L# qThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
1 b* R$ [/ S* z: _3 i' U4 Q
project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
! L* a) D- u9 y4 w% qThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
$ |) F+ Q9 f5 a: K4 QAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
; [' [% k. f; g8 T' P$ Y- X; |and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

) m& U: n1 {! N0 PVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
