T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip o# h$ U, J' U1 h4 K7 z* W$ {
Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering $ D( @6 E9 K) N/ x4 |
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on ; T$ Q/ i% g, u! n2 |
interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,

What will take place in the sessions?, [3 M& b6 s5 Z( H1 @4 W( B
Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.

* R/ p- K3 w3 m' i. \) k Explore personal interests in arts and recreation1 D& F0 K/ v) l8 z, J1 V

 Develop self-confidence and problem solving skills

Program Schedule:1 ]; V$ D1 J; p
Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.- R( n8 O+ V; A# z+ I1 l6 ^( S
Summer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily9 o5 G+ C7 N" K3 }+ E2 B" {& B6 v
2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily

Who can participate?" h2 B% n$ c& \2 d3 ~4 [1 U3 E
Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

$ x4 ~2 L9 ]& A9 M1 o" [+ \What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
% ?6 l, Y' ]( Z @It is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.

2 T! L; v+ X. U" Z" [# }Volunteer’s Duties:

- _/ j4 w# I% S$ H8 R0 U* e- O' C Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
) P+ |, N2 d6 c Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development " p) |; T* v& d @9 Q
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities" r% J; j7 Z2 d! K1 u
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
$ r# O! I3 ?* f Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
" m8 Z( E: k U- [) ]8 p' S0 Z' f5 k9 J Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips$ o' ]* [6 k4 j* Z+ d
 Assist in program planning

Volunteer Commitment:* `( n$ ]" A# Y0 Q# s4 n3 j r# O
* Q1 b: O5 `4 v+ c+ ~+ N! P, n On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
% B9 T$ U1 n, e8 Y0 U; L One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator

 Able to work independently with minimum supervision
