T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip
( L9 M6 u, ]0 mAsian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering + d# b) `( W! |' {9 G M9 B) M
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on 6 Y- Z: \! I' }
interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
7 r0 a, p% N7 pand Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.+ M2 T6 P! d9 r, x, k+ f" N

What will take place in the sessions?) S! J+ ~- K7 W, s" ^7 o% T
Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.

 Explore personal interests in arts and recreation+ d# r6 {6 i1 A/ U

 Identify personal leadership strengths …; j+ y& Y+ \5 t* C% X) u

Program Schedule:( N8 t- D) X! @6 c7 J+ d8 [
Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
% C0 M' g% e& u* |8 Q' D$ E1 ^Summer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily3 d) Y4 \( m% E# M4 x7 [5 a/ Q
2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily" z8 [" ]: m% \

Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?4 |. W! J- P/ H& F) p' _3 o
It is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.

Volunteer’s Duties:
o; o4 y; E z( m4 e/ w, j& N. s- D
 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
/ m3 ^& s p& d1 ~& c- ?& h Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development 4 b8 i5 I$ W$ `: M8 E( A2 C N
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
4 V! M1 [- c1 B1 {7 S. O& w Facilitate or assist in small group discussions8 r+ E; t3 |1 K; _0 F' i$ K
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic: V- B j6 H; I% L& @, @+ W
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips
' w g( Z& v. ]+ _& K/ I Assist in program planning

 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)* B1 F. ]) \% P$ N3 n$ J5 S
 One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer

 Able to work independently with minimum supervision
