In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

4 U$ u- J4 G2 P6 cSEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada. % f9 m: g, Q& k' z3 a7 Q$ _
SEDI is staffed to:
; e9 _4 r/ Y) ?• conduct socio-economic market and policy research
; q+ N+ c0 P5 w, W1 {- a2 @• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners # }% U& T; o. A* S, {( t
• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation
) c* O4 `1 B6 d7 u1 v• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs
5 x# o# H3 C/ r0 }' Y% K! T( ]3 J• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits
% w; r$ ~, h, Z; m• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses

+ J* e" ?9 \7 D, Z& tPrimary Responsibilities and Activities:
* _# W, t q& H' ]3 o# H! e) i$ C• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada 0 Q; L" r# V4 \9 L3 L, N I( T
• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc)
% b+ Z3 g: W' ]. V• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required
+ ]. o$ s( m/ I8 S) c• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities : ^0 D6 @7 e. Y7 e! v4 t, ^+ e' M
• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
8 x, ~5 k! c2 }5 J' _• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required - b/ p/ `9 g$ N- A% j+ S

• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies # h) [/ _. W6 s4 Y+ Z
• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners 0 t( g# e6 d& |3 C# m' h
• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting
, i# j6 h6 P6 `( l3 R9 E# s• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports
- M5 p' m0 E5 e1 ~% y8 U• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning . k- }& o& S: G8 l% o. _
Primary Qualifications:
# X, @: j1 K n/ _, W- n* ~• Demonstrated group facilitation experience * p' x& R6 g* u" r0 S7 I# o
• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media
7 d) @1 d8 G1 c4 `- Z9 E2 W$ J• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training : _! {/ R E" E# n& q
• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities $ L8 H) r; G/ b) x0 u7 W
• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams
# b* |0 p$ T. b' G( S• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals
" {8 b, U7 M" |1 o• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts & o3 v* E" e* D- J# R4 v" W
• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them ! m* j6 U: O0 w) H8 u
• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc 9 M+ Z6 K2 Q& i) r
• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education
9 ~" }; q, N& x0 x+ S• Content / curriculum development experience & a( B* W5 Z# b0 j z! w* D
• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners
4 U V( H2 }# R% O, w& p7 C9 a& M• Excellent organizational skills
. K1 ], A+ D" e' ~4 X3 S- C• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc.
8 p# ~) U# P w/ B• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset

This is a full time contract position for 1 year based out of our Toronto office with the possibility of extension.
