Position: Outreach Worker

- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
: L* U2 L$ s+ ~$ f- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
- provide support to ISP staff
1 b& D' T: M9 v: a4 c- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
  e, \9 T  z' m; s) D& N, r- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
. p. K0 v+ c; k8 h! W- v- J$ O- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
! @+ l% x% c, {" i0 x- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned

* q+ s. v7 _( U6 r' ]  r- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
7 B, t% O( y' g3 P- W8 a- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
- good interpersonal and people skills
- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

Other
- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

Salary
- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
