 Provide ongoing positive encouragement and support to clients accessing the Resource Centre.

 Assist clients with resume and cover letter development, effective job search techniques, interview skills, and accessing the hidden job market after workshop completion.

Settlement Counsellor
. J' \, e+ q% `+ @# i* m Engage with and build a professional trusting relationship with newcomers, treating them with dignity and in line with the values of the Bredin Institute.

 Promote Bredin Institute’s mission, vision, values and strategic objectives.* {8 D; ~& ~, o; O
 Encourage independence and self determination in newcomers3 B$ _- x: _. P/ P
 Work with newcomers in assessing their needs and a needs-based settlement plan.7 c1 i6 S* y3 G; T0 i# ^
 Liaise effectively with a range of service providers, both voluntary and statutory, in order to ensure services are available to newcomers.4 {! G. Y6 |. j2 V
 Accompany newcomers to other agencies and to act as advocate as necessary.

 Attend multi-agency and multidisciplinary meetings, as required

 Responsible for intake, orientation and completion of workability assessments.
0 a5 ?; S/ m! _: I* j: ^2 s: i Deliver program overview to potential clients, as well as other interested parties.
: a& ]7 R  X: N Screen and assess clients’ skills and abilities through a workability assessment.1 E& Q) W* O. J7 |! K
 Determination of which stream of services most appropriate for the client.; s& D' c% g! u) S
 Provide referral information on other services that may be more suitable for the client.3 Q/ Y7 E4 L1 U' q% t) Z& i2 t9 p$ Q5 ~
 Cooperatively with the client, develop an individualized service plan.

 Complete participant reviews with the participants; W/ E6 I  d. L, n3 x) M
 Complete 90 and 180 day follow up with client after training completion; A% @8 L% N( e( R9 o
 Perform other duties as assigned by manager/coordinator
