• Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists (ASET), and

Beginning in 1995, ETIP:

• helps participants develop the skills and recognition needed to work as

What is the practice?
. D3 o. g3 [' \ `* r+ vIntegrated training offers a blend of occupation-related skills, a work) B W" x4 q, @! A
experience and competency-based training, such as applied academics or
9 G1 t6 V" l, W/ AEnglish as a Second Language.5 p( V4 A/ M4 M* L- w
The ETIP program involves four phases:

required for the Alberta workplace. Training includes:

• engineering-related training delivered at NAIT:

Upon successful completion of ETIP, graduates are Technologist-in-Training

What is the evidence of success?) a$ u# r5 W: @0 y7 l3 g; d
As of 2003, more than 80% of ETIP graduates over the past six years have
" z; L$ h( F5 ^' | Q! qfound engineering or engineering technologist employment in Alberta." ~3 I6 K3 Z+ I, K% A% Z) h) g
In 2004, 46 engineers graduated from the ETIP program. At the time of$ W- L# Y1 l( ]4 e
graduation, almost half had secured employment in the engineering industry,
& E6 G; h: E, n+ ^; X2 bwith over 90% employed at three months post-graduation.
