The Engineers and Technologists Integration Program (ETIP) involves a& R( ~( r2 `3 R1 T/ q6 M j" ]

• Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN)' ~5 d/ M1 m- U! b# {
• Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists (ASET), and

Beginning in 1995, ETIP:
8 \/ V0 k- \8 g6 T& @• supports foreign-educated engineer and engineering technologists, and
" i7 X5 [+ W# e+ z• helps participants develop the skills and recognition needed to work as

Alberta is home to many foreign-educated immigrant engineers. These
0 R5 n O. u4 q2 t( wimmigrants are highly educated and experienced, yet many may find it
0 l4 B9 {$ G: K$ X: Rdifficult to integrate into the Alberta workforce. Some employers may not+ D* C! i3 ?4 V- j" x
recognize their international experience or credentials.

" E* O* P8 }- Q" ZIntegrated training offers a blend of occupation-related skills, a work
- a' G* p5 u/ X+ cexperience and competency-based training, such as applied academics or
' c/ o- `7 h/ a6 ]3 w! m+ l4 ~English as a Second Language.

• engineering-related training delivered at NAIT:

• ASET is a professional association that provides credential assessment

What is the evidence of success?
& K2 d6 i6 X/ A9 r/ lAs of 2003, more than 80% of ETIP graduates over the past six years have
) X" a2 Z. X* e1 \6 V) Sfound engineering or engineering technologist employment in Alberta.
* z+ h1 ~# v# a. L7 tIn 2004, 46 engineers graduated from the ETIP program. At the time of& R7 f' t; u- X% }. q4 u& A6 }2 r
graduation, almost half had secured employment in the engineering industry,
, Q/ e1 Z& L6 P% t5 Rwith over 90% employed at three months post-graduation.
