Reporting to the Administrator of Information Technology Services (ITS), and working collaboratively with the other members of the unit, the Web Application Developer provides application development support to ensure viable and effective solutions to the business needs of units within the Human Resources portfolio.
# @% @6 C+ h* p- }Develops web-based applications in support of the business needs of units within the portfolio1 @5 n4 D& Y7 Q% D/ }- G0 r) b
Designs, maintains, and optimizes relational databases used by web-based applications g0 z8 G m' S8 E1 g9 h# e
Provides ongoing support, training and documentation for applications developed in-house
! w. R0 `. v8 T& kParticipates in needs assessments, project management, and software evaluations
8 P2 q. p7 ]! k8 n$ D% iProvides creative design for new and existing websites, including graphics and the development of templates to be used with the HR Content Management System (CMS)

9 m0 R: R' s# nThe successful candidate will be required to pursue a consistent program of professional development to maintain technical expertise.% V9 ]0 A7 `/ G
Two year technical diploma in computer science with a focus on web-based design and database development8 D- ^1 V" {* {# E/ e; b
Minimum 3 years experience developing dynamic web-based applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.Net, ADO.Net, XML0 |3 P' u% K' C
Demonstrated experience with database development and optimization using MS Access and SQL Server 2000% _0 @0 S9 R; t
Experience administering IIS and working knowledge of Windows Server environment; experience developing with SharePoint Services and SQL Reporting Services an asset; E" X) v) B5 o/ z2 c0 s& ?
Proficiency developing web graphics with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; proficiency using Macromedia Flash an asset
