Youth Worker

) }: U* P5 Q' b- W: QKey Responsibilities & Duties:

9 H9 b2 E2 [+ W" l Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.; ?) e* X" ^1 G
 Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
& L' x- V+ s7 N+ M Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
+ S/ i  F) u# L Completing required paperwork.+ I. \  I* u' q% ?
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.. H: S3 V" `- W% |. l( u, i
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.1 q2 s. @! t6 X# ?; |: h! s
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
: z% @# `. B, }1 S5 k Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.* `/ d+ ~" X+ X- v- {; q+ k
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.3 }7 V' ]* N5 N9 e, ]9 G* u
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
/ [# |& D% L! c& e/ E Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.) \0 V0 `" E! a$ ~6 B1 j' e

Qualifications:9 I- @" k# Q# _2 e# x% X
; U& C- l4 f; S
 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
6 `# Y, x% S' U3 Y# N- Z% j Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.+ n/ e2 _( R; ~2 ]
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.. p6 J( q/ c! E' R* a1 M, w9 ]
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
' k* k3 {3 W6 f4 {' p3 z; T Knowledge of community resources.
. a% }* A/ W- I$ l4 T' b6 I8 [* k Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
$ Y. ?7 o4 W% {0 ] Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.
* N1 Z7 e- Q- C: x" F
. W* G2 N+ {4 _6 s) }+ `9 J+ VPosition:& H3 i* G2 j  L! g; j2 E" j
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; evening and weekend shifts; at an hourly rate of $12.50; starting February 8 2006. , z  C: i+ r- l) v% ]+ h7 z
There is a 3-month probationary period. 1 {2 x! R0 }* c# u" Z* G
