FUNCTION:
. x# Q! e9 j0 y2 b& M! Q" cAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

Enterprise Data
5 J8 h) z1 U* ~5 ]. v( E, |• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
. m  Z6 |% U( w" U3 P2 ~• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
. |2 {  i4 b8 s& @0 U; a* }• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
; z3 p, K' G( L/ P7 s' \2 mBi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
# h; y$ |8 d2 a* |/ M• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
. T# l$ I# A7 N7 n* ~/ y• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

2 x: v9 X" C# R) V1 k9 M* sSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
. G) P! H5 e& @5 n+ b3 a" H• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
/ g5 `( `7 N/ [6 c/ W/ F# o$ c• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
# N$ Y; ~" S+ V  j# z! J• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
) ^3 e& }7 F* `! l- [" d• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
