FUNCTION:
+ s; B8 I( d" P: ^; K4 y- B" `' A1 JAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
% X. K5 B4 J' q1 l2 e: h• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
2 y. L8 s. z/ L• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
+ O' ~' Y& T+ }Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
4 J7 G5 Q$ Y) w7 ^; S• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
' A7 D9 q: c$ `3 T( Q• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
) K- Z3 }$ s( V. x6 ]0 W• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
- I( B$ z$ ]& U& P/ {/ D: g• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
# n/ K* G3 n6 ?) E/ b• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
" B8 Z/ @4 p7 y7 ^7 `$ O• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
" W, u! V; }6 b) [" K• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
9 N1 n) P  t: \; c6 D• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
4 V3 O+ @8 h# Q• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
4 V5 m, k, `3 F# _: h• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
2 B6 N0 ^# A, O8 j& D" P/ w• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
