The Organization: recognizing that social change is a necessary response to HIV, the Alberta Community Council on HIV (ACCH) supports community-based responses and provides provincial leadership through collective action & a unified voice. ACCH is an umbrella organization providing support, capacity building opportunities, and leadership to AIDS Service Organizations in Alberta.( O# N" _- u% L3 {* W

Key Qualifications: experience in helping to develop/build a successful non-profit organization; proven skills at coordinating & bringing strong-willed people together to develop a common focus and to achieve specific goals; proven success in situations that are unpredictable/ambiguous; ability to coordinate, motivate and manage staff & contract workers through leadership, supervision/decision-making; experience in budget development, oversight & day-to-day decision making as well as development of reports to Board/funders.

In addition: well developed communication/interpersonal skills, and strong relationship building skills to initiate, foster and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders; strong organizational & facilitation skills, with proven ability to coordinate multiple tasks and set priorities amidst important but competing deadlines; analytic thinking skills and an ability to critically assess complex community and social issues related HIV/AIDS in Alberta. A/ x# B( ]# j* u6 Q5 T$ x2 J
( g2 Q/ B- j$ ^; d4 r& HPLUS: commitment to the values/principles that support sexual health, anti-oppression perspectives, positioning HIV prevention within a sexual health/harm reduction frameworks, and addressing the social & systemic factors that impact on HIV risk; a proven skill working independently as this position requires working from home; ability to facilitate a process of internal membership capacity strengthening; confident in computer systems including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Video Conferencing.
