9 y# O4 X5 ~! d Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or " {# \4 I. x8 [) C
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
7 I+ o* c7 i0 q0 N. g. T$ FThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, ( r3 q* @8 \' }# L/ q
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
( ~: F) `0 A' o, a5 G) gWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as 1 Z$ a- j( g8 t- Y
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for ( x1 G; |, e' z, h* J X$ v& ?
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
! ^0 {4 N- c8 J1 p) T0 ^assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served.

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental 4 M3 K; c+ @5 R2 g7 S
case plan support for clients who have complex needs. - R4 g- I% O2 a( C! p. i
Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.

Qualification
* X5 h9 n! U6 g1 ^2 @
3 e) J5 X- I6 z$ g+ H Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
' k3 O) y! e. C- s/ Fexperience in Social Work or related human service fields. ; x7 |2 Y ^) R8 s
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
% M, G4 X* l6 e" e/ }* Osupport needs
: N+ x$ Z/ G# |2 o6 _3 i. W Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
/ C+ M# i& e( ~' z$ o1 N Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages
( W$ B* H$ Q- l# M, t0 ` Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate
