Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or 7 U+ Z# ?) m2 D% a, v4 X
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. + a, ^) M$ I+ s& _
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, 0 q3 j, X( V5 {" t" n7 Y
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social & Z2 e' q3 V+ q J; W/ H4 u9 n
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
& b" L( a4 c. x0 Zneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for ! `, i: j, L, _ T- r# v: n4 z
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial " y/ u' J2 W7 A
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.

6 j% A# ?4 { e: F w2 T' o, F Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and $ x: z8 Y g/ v# x6 S4 p
experience in Social Work or related human service fields. - E: n9 W3 T' s, v( c$ g! _
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family % E" e9 B& Q! n# A
support needs
d) f. X/ }! w7 V Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications m- |, u# b; W6 \ {, h! s
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages 9 E0 _3 k! f$ U" s" m6 W
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate . h& d! n! G9 w3 ]! t9 e* k/ B* w
