this multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA % a# l3 E6 P, A
Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Responsibilities * L3 W8 V1 b+ y

! r' b9 F* k) ~) x5 a  AReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and " x) e' q! }" Z# _$ q
execution of the YWCA Strategy
1 Q* U8 k: G6 W4 g5 y8 p0 s4 E 0 X4 p" B2 u. H& l/ o. z
Specific responsibilities include:  
  A$ b8 s' G! b" p 2 Q4 r; F7 Z3 N3 g" C6 {# r8 e
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
$ @0 A$ n* b# m/ b; s0 n: Xthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by 9 r4 X9 m* u8 _0 `$ D
the Board of Directors;  ) b9 X" q+ u: _  P0 Q& m0 U
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
* P0 R- ?# ~8 k: K+ B' o7 jincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
& a; K3 O4 a: P/ Benable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
7 U6 t1 c* s5 m6 o•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
# a8 U9 M/ r$ J3 zobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by * y) [& L- f. M; P/ V+ ]
the board;  / ]* U) L! R- B% m3 @
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  5 i, \7 z% G* F5 ^+ h
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ) j; a8 R- i! j  \* l/ O; O
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
7 m; g- E3 A: r9 v$ z- ~•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
9 m6 e0 T% c) v# C. kchanging needs of the organization and community;
. w. E9 Q& r$ Y# w) B3 M, [•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue " p! W; C9 R/ ^$ W1 i. p8 `' _
commitments;
; K( j/ C2 j0 B5 R' G•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
2 S+ E  J- W4 G/ W1 N. G: H•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
+ X- u6 Q0 ~8 Y7 B/ h) B1 lselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
8 _% Z1 H. f, g5 [& l1 ?•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;   C: v: l3 w' v% b8 A! N5 r& W
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
! a2 N& a2 _: weffectively and positively represent the association; ( e# M6 a" F1 J  u7 U2 k5 b
9 k, ?' a4 |4 ~
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring 9 L# S. l6 |9 T9 `: l( f# o
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
' _. \! v& ~; J6 Q) }•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal $ A( `. t+ Q3 h* I! Y( O) F6 p6 V
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED - a9 c- V* D' r! c% |1 g% ^! C6 x% u
the forthcoming year;  
, U; h# z; r% m  x/ m* J2 y* V, }: e•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
) U: ^+ g. S) u1 S7 Qpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 7 M: b% |/ \" M
YWCA Canada; and
+ g8 z# Z' y/ _" X0 p" n•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task ' t  O; P  H4 n( j# O1 ]4 A

•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus $ }, ~) n) Q. I: l4 z. I

•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; / q6 N5 k1 }- f" Q/ Q0 U
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable

•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks . C, V  E4 G7 P9 z( [' _

•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and ) c* X' N8 ^" D

Required Professional Designation / Certification 3 ~0 O- o5 @3 n4 v
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. 1 E- j: {% |0 Q/ G1 M
) F9 F! X& X9 O* v0 p  A
Required Experience , h" U- G" p( @! S' e6 U: q6 H
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
5 j8 @( r7 O1 j6 l% L2 a•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
6 k5 k8 K1 y, A8 \% jabilities;
) B& e$ |; R9 m/ y•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, " j$ c" |: P# x6 |: L" U2 G
Networking and Fundraising; - a& H' @  v$ J
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
& \5 T+ Z  J' E0 a  Uand financial statements; and " C7 ~7 e7 B- u
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women + x1 z( H& F( p
centered perspective. - J8 j& M( n+ N( R: J4 r; _  w
