The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 3 O- L: T& o# `# M
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
& |2 a1 g# v$ Y, `. e3 q' @the Board of Directors; # F- @& J* K+ x# J# Z) a/ B) n, X
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
$ K7 e5 P# i& R1 P& nincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to % h+ d' Z6 I# U2 H# x; `, q
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
4 N! N% @5 g' j9 |' }1 s9 q• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
. o2 A/ ]4 B& { ~" @objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by % a1 D. U* `; T& _& Y3 C6 G" H) r
the board;
; D( T, U7 g% h3 A( Q• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
6 m9 `# n3 @2 V' j• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
% w6 `6 [' G y. Y' o# ], P' S6 j D, \the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
7 [0 \/ o1 J! H, F$ t% |3 z• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 0 Q1 Z/ a* U- l1 ]6 ^
changing needs of the organization and community;
; T! ]( V7 `1 A# M1 u$ F• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue , K0 s: i/ q8 W! A
commitments; 0 l& c! @! W$ \
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
( L9 g! J! D. m8 t• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
+ T; }3 x: G7 f, _selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; - F! s1 v R4 A: E% n7 f2 _
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; , k! W) q2 s; x0 g7 d; B5 H9 |
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
# h7 F4 U: ]* J& ?. |effectively and positively represent the association;

* b) t1 `" D" W" j1 N8 T8 m w4 r W/ J9 @• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring

• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
$ M! j. [% V+ M+ H$ o& x O Aperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
& Z" |' l. X$ L5 k( u, Dthe forthcoming year; 3 o# V! I6 `& D/ h" D& B
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical ) l& y% D9 ]* Q& ]6 M: ]
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of - i9 U5 Y- a* v2 W+ t6 X: ]+ t" Z
YWCA Canada; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification 3 I" h/ W+ p, x9 q. ^
• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

/ q t; R* `! Z0 c$ KRequired Experience 7 Z, R+ I3 r* L+ l0 l- V% P
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
" ?3 I! n% n9 G, d• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation 1 v. W' {, y9 F* ]
abilities;
4 E0 J0 t1 o. J• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, / y' C, q$ f3 o- E+ a
Networking and Fundraising; : `/ B/ M+ M$ P5 k
• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting

• Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
