Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
7 p. v! o# B4 f) c9 C) Uthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ' B" N7 F' P, f2 V+ a2 ^/ o
the Board of Directors;
# L) E( l j8 q1 C# \• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations % V: B1 _3 N: f
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 3 c4 g% o8 Q) i8 P5 w" o/ E
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
5 n Z9 x* N7 ~2 ~ ^- k' g• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
/ ~3 n: M; A. G6 X Aobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by

• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
1 g4 N# Z9 ]$ j7 Z• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion ' Q' p2 w# w+ x
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; E2 q/ i2 K4 r/ Z4 E
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the / N o3 Z! n: E
changing needs of the organization and community;
! _2 A M: _8 B( G• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue : F( u$ @ e G
commitments; ( Y5 u- B' R8 D( C- x
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; ! }% A0 i% Z* \* {3 H! b. M$ u1 n( \
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
4 g6 S" i9 Z/ {0 I; hselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
6 [: J% K( m* @2 |/ r• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
; x7 ]% i: X+ ^8 e- Q& J# W• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to 6 O7 a! Q* _ Q7 G0 g# ]
effectively and positively represent the association; ) O/ W. W# u% ^7 }
, |0 s& m6 b& f( {- p7 f• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
: u% Y0 n' k1 h m% e6 x2 }# \. Y2 ?the implementation of systems to manage these risks; , M. Y7 z% [( \
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 4 ~ e$ {$ B, j: I8 j/ j: d5 ~
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED , i- c& U7 @" C$ I8 ~+ D
the forthcoming year;
$ E# e! S7 |6 G! v/ Q• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical

Required Professional Designation / Certification
7 x+ y' b' j, R• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. % S2 @% Q1 t- m e5 o; Z N9 K

Required Experience # } y2 H, s0 `: x0 y6 f0 {
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; ( @; ?+ ~; `- o6 [. d
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
' B/ m% e" C( ^% Z$ labilities;
. I; g! G" K: W/ ?* X3 t6 k• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, + P3 Q5 T( D! y( s0 f
Networking and Fundraising;
3 n& N4 K; o- f& v3 Z/ w• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting ( ~" _4 F' E0 \4 d
and financial statements; and

centered perspective.
