, N! p% Y; O& f/ l. bthis multi-service agency.  With over 200 staff and an operating budget of $8 million, YWCA

Responsibilities 0 ?+ u+ R6 [* T$ |0 Z$ d. C

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
: G; i( c1 T, F1 U  Nexecution of the YWCA Strategy $ x/ U: ^* g  |* H; C. u8 g

$ d) o9 n& H% m# B( cSpecific responsibilities include:  9 [* `9 R# W' m! m( K/ T7 ~

/ }$ N7 n9 V$ h/ k•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
) E. X; c: |: N3 ethe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
9 v0 d! j$ v' K1 h9 Pthe Board of Directors;  
0 N( S6 d( ?; V•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
2 L$ u5 E" B4 x% D( hincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
/ _/ E* ]4 V2 q4 v& uenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
' K! U* A- T. Y6 a% S•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
6 d7 x/ f( k# ~- ?2 Pobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by , h4 N9 `& Q( n) Y2 j0 u
the board;  
  }! O1 ?+ ?+ H% A1 ~6 z•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  ! K' r# L, h0 X
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
, J# |2 a) {2 y5 P4 H6 N6 Wthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
1 ?6 c5 {+ m6 W0 H' B0 _•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 5 L- \2 m$ Z7 S% R0 d
changing needs of the organization and community; 5 g+ P( G1 X, G5 K# D
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
3 M- M2 w# v) f4 A5 l$ B! u/ }0 ocommitments; ; V" \3 K, ?& S$ A
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
4 X# A* u% p% a7 l•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
- O1 @4 p7 o! Y% ~1 ~, V4 Zselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  * q9 l! {" W3 `9 q7 a
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; ( w# c7 U* ]- h: B
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
# {5 v8 H( d" o; \effectively and positively represent the association;
9 n4 ~; G- O7 u' s% J, N* H5 E0 G3 S$ e
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
% u! b! u0 }) {9 cthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  " u, t8 m8 p# R7 Z- w
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal : ?1 b( I3 r0 ]" Q" r; R
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
) S% ~5 N3 P6 h( W& L. y% Gthe forthcoming year;  
& p" p2 U* p6 R* U/ y% g0 O, x•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical , Q5 @% J& p- H( R
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
# o" B* Z. m6 w- _$ SYWCA Canada; and 6 D- n% S" a. q6 ]
•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
) D- O' b$ ~  ^1 OForces.  2 w( S1 o0 a( v' K' g

Required Skills & Abilities
- T& J! r8 v& ?- Y4 L•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
1 g2 V8 g( S' {& s' u" c•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
+ w7 D2 v; r& r) I# S7 J8 `. V  Paround decisions, plans and actions; ' F2 B7 I% F* l: U# U1 G
•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; + M  [/ D% X+ m9 e% V1 {5 U
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
' d- W* B! ]' \7 G+ S' fand achievable with realistic timeframes;
  o3 G1 X+ b9 a•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks
  @2 `3 A( s6 h/ M7 k7 ~: e) X; q7 zsimultaneously; 3 g4 h7 x. b" e
•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build
& A! r1 L- b, E' T2 A# M" _( xrapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; : ?# p- \6 r; a: t$ z, ^
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and . R* H" i4 N( o# N. V3 s
•  Superior negotiation skills.

Required Professional Designation / Certification 1 v! C9 b6 C3 W# `0 ^. ]% U$ W
•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.   p" |5 u2 r! A2 U5 Z' {5 y

& ^( @3 n" a4 `: D. i) ]" W1 ]5 GRequired Experience
% }4 o, q/ P& {; J) ^' x•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; - K! {% A* p  F& L7 d/ d4 S* y  D! E
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
; F' m; V# F4 T6 f, W* O  ]abilities; # i) ~  D* S+ A; h' q. N, z
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
6 W& N; t/ x) P' v9 w! n! L6 ~/ RNetworking and Fundraising;
- x7 `, Z2 Q9 V* Z; {1 \: S•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
( C9 }* I  J5 y& A/ B. P8 ~0 i- gand financial statements; and . o, E; C8 {( B/ F
•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women
