Different areas might have different flooring materials and look nice, actually consistency of floorings needs area rugs to define space as suggested by many interior designers.

( l) a6 |/ V) X; ?I mean if you use hardwood floor all the way through (consistency), it is suggested to use area rugs; if you use tiles in kitchen, hardwood floor in familyroom, different spaces are defined ( area rugs are saved and still look nice)
