In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. v6 k- W1 ^: E+ T% _, I
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. 2 y" B& ~4 d* H+ t5 F3 u
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. . i# h2 U6 L" q0 z
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. ; D/ l+ K1 `0 r& n$ W Q+ T
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
( l; E3 W, I* `$ a+ BMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 2 Y) J, x) p+ D) R( E* \- i
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 6 V4 u1 ^) K& o; E1 z, k
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. ( b3 Q, p+ v0 J9 X
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 5 {( J, i8 H! S( R6 q: W/ q- r; c2 l
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
) z& b, H# i5 R* BIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. , r3 d% C% \8 D- z, M/ L
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

$ n4 L' m: H( d# W; A9 i! i! y, w/ _A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. . d( T6 \2 `& @0 K6 e
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 0 M/ A& V/ L* s
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
* ^& {( T; D$ }0 o' X! jPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
- v) z, x& b. y# d9 J3 Q- G# ^Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
6 D9 C; J) I: p0 B/ {Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
