Responsibilities - M! ~$ A+ Q" B3 _0 x6 _
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
: ~/ r0 y4 o# I5 R& j# VPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. 3 r( h4 y$ b, ]) h' `) ^- r7 o' q2 f
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
2 j2 P8 T% w* d2 O0 P3 E% v* bOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
2 T6 H" K6 T9 o5 } YMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 5 i5 b0 @3 }$ B- B( a
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. N& H. y3 y- Z- q5 ]
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. & t4 ~3 _5 z4 @0 Z
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. , j# F, W+ J2 c
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
2 r- P3 u% v$ M+ X6 m$ YAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. , F! I: B1 c. M
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. ; H4 q) ~" L- P
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

! A5 k: z X+ ]- u# j$ S# _A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. ' ~# N/ E) o+ m0 E$ ` ?+ x/ I
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. " o; z3 h9 P2 o- n0 z* K
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
3 a8 q; s6 w1 M5 P, e5 b5 d$ u, ]+ yPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
' F& C% I3 h4 |% O- S7 s) t5 |Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
