Responsibilities
% _( v& ~9 h' ^- {In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. 0 P' z" M! g4 ?1 I
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
, j' c, |& c# a+ l& q* FAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. ( k. a! |% S. B3 ^1 y( }8 @
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
: i* ^7 o: v& A9 X% l2 p1 j/ A. T3 kMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
9 m5 o" |- Y" D' B& \/ R$ V6 p' PMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
; z9 _. p% g, R8 l) {# RExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
# L/ S1 Y# Q7 GEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
, F5 o6 I% t5 e9 rDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. g6 c Q. ~; I0 R4 W
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
1 {( f9 ?4 T: S6 E ?Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. . a) k; I- l+ M& R& M% U4 l
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. - C B% r% e7 C1 F/ H& I
Qualifications 9 ?4 n3 R/ D) B2 L+ j0 K
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. + ^# K$ [7 _/ g& a/ H; Q
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
$ g0 D; ~4 Y2 x, E$ r/ pPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 5 _$ l$ c5 W+ o' T/ b# P5 T0 T
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
6 S* h5 r- S7 j8 b. A: s& {% C0 r- q- `Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 8 V' \. O& r) s. y- V
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
