In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
. ^/ u$ G0 Y) T5 aPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. : A% }( \/ ?/ R) n
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
5 E- A8 B* k" g& k8 f6 COversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
" c% Y( k6 r6 ?# I6 S6 kMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. $ [* o4 z6 L) b$ a/ D3 G" k& q
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
+ G+ h% T9 p7 ?, \8 i/ S9 [' HExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. ! ~ |9 O0 L6 x7 }4 T% v t9 Z
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
, P* {- ]' c1 b. Y q- A7 eDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. % c- l3 J2 o, g, t# S( a! J% k' \
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. ' {; [& N+ A0 r& e
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. % J* t7 K2 C0 a) A6 P# q! ^
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 0 P+ H1 k M2 f- V9 ?- [
Qualifications / s) b3 w. Q8 S2 P+ a% Q5 F
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
) |" r8 w6 a- b1 g: fPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 6 L3 B; J) x' z
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. * n) |+ V- d; r4 ?( g# X
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 6 e- H' `& C. D6 ?4 m3 ~: P
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
6 y! _7 Y) N. Q: j# Q! HProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
