' }0 _6 o) x, g1 g8 G$ lIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.

Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. ) j! w" G3 J7 W
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
3 z8 P8 d! U" r4 x" oMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
- ^. V& C& b7 s9 o8 YMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. % r6 i( ~$ \& `& T2 f0 m9 ~1 p
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. , s: F1 `% `$ S( @4 s# A8 I2 U3 k
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
8 g# }, O7 ~8 iDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.

Qualifications 3 Z9 u% K+ X% X: |" s3 A
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
7 d m5 o9 p0 z GPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
( D0 M3 R' A. d1 BPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. ) Z$ r5 t, E" J8 {
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. , z: ]- x* h g, X( w7 Z8 u1 E2 z0 A
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
