24 HOURS OVER 4 MONTHS+ F Z! n: n& U0 ]6 ?1 l
This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.
: a" C" W- N- D* Z- {7 T5 kEligibility Criteria) J% w* e7 E5 F6 X0 ?
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
' E$ N: {6 y( F- K& p: o•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less
$ v( D, [8 K# ?/ w$ c•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education ~' r3 d$ @1 N/ C
•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English
3 \! S; D/ @( c% Z•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada
* {& t9 _$ D' c) ?3 P {•No prior Canadian work experience in their field
6 ~1 d: N p( k+ h•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less) W+ ]# a! _! a4 w F( D, I c$ j
•Be eligible to work in Canada$ w. |" i/ z% ?7 [2 ~
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop+ z4 H2 T9 C6 }& R+ H- }' q* w
•Lack access to professional networks) B$ ?* X3 i; d' c& o
•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning
) o- D- I- n# k$ ~# k" M8 k0 UTime Commitment' z( V# I [7 I. w* f
The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.) r/ T* N) c& j/ X
