Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. % l7 K+ i0 H# x6 j1 `% U

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students

Key Responsibilities Include9 Z8 W8 c* o: }5 n: ^
Activity Planning and Daily Activity$ j0 _# k* ]" C) i1 ?7 v. [
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
- {- F7 [$ u7 o+ W8 K1 d5 t• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 5 F0 L" c/ y0 F
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
# E8 x6 u/ N5 Z* f• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
) U7 [5 m" i W4 h1 \• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
0 A7 G" @6 _# S% B• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:8 a% [ ?/ X6 b/ a# N5 I
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
1 J5 N0 S1 Z6 e- Z. P/ f6 l• Experience with children
8 y# s6 {5 ^& B2 t4 J2 b• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth 4 Y0 d& D" O+ ~( `7 C1 j. q
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
! _6 q# L+ ~0 t' m) Y: I" U• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
' w/ u, I. E( `0 f% r0 @6 t% A• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources9 W; c2 ~1 m% C
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check ; ~, J# [( w' O5 R1 L1 @$ U. ?
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check ; J( G0 ]) o% y0 H+ U/ r, q
