7 ?- \$ x$ ?" U# ^4 I4 ?FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
3 g, }; F( z/ w& G7 w9 U  o) l1 \; QAlberta.
% q6 b. r8 ?+ x5 l; m3 f6 Z* ]
; O6 K) b5 z8 t  a" gFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
! f1 P0 Z) {* X' e1 c) W) aemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
% W' l; D( D3 H2 S4 qscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
: i8 t. ]9 _" S% DAlberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
) Q! d3 U. `+ J% E' c) PFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
well as the script, magazine and book library.

" x  U+ }7 H0 Z$ {4 NDuties:
! W; a/ L- f/ w- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
; w" Y/ t& B6 A( z0 g! V* v7 U- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- Implement a catalogue template for future use
. r- H6 J1 }. ?5 M. G- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
' m/ J! I! A$ Q  d- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
- l7 C1 I7 e) }/ G8 Asecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
0 t6 R+ Z2 ~5 z% b: F0 u- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
, Y; R  G- F+ w- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
