Duties

* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications( U- S" q! H7 P1 j n4 y- |6 D7 w
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
' @- f5 K/ Q; `9 |* i' o, q7 g * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance9 t' f' @7 e! d8 G" p) H
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students " v' W; p* A4 @
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies$ Z9 W) w5 A8 O; [& F
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
& j4 O: n) v. ?7 }" ^: w * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment
