A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.. s1 v& g) `( k, ?
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
/ g. ]6 r7 W9 N( w O( y- ^knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.
% g1 ~ U0 N# ZThe program includes the following elements:
1 f$ X( T5 B* a* c/ G" ?4 h* _; z; r• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
- k B R: X) H( \- E% J6 V9 q• Standard Child Care First Aid
' `7 U- I6 q/ P/ m% h• WHMIS
$ U' b. s) U% p2 S6 b• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
( ]+ M: C/ ~. E C$ H" ~* T& f• Components to improve communication skills
/ |* o) F. R( l M* C• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
% I; _ @4 _& T+ h# T. t5 @ G• Practicum Placements
6 u& R& a3 \0 C' n: LEligibility Criteria5 ]0 C$ y2 {; e, `1 r
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen- x8 p+ j8 V, L
of Canada
+ T# M9 }/ g6 | F1 Y• have a Social Insurance Number
+ M' u% j6 \& H. x* n; e& E• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
2 I4 v! z5 i( x• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent7 R7 ?6 S/ z( B
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet; v; b7 Y! J$ r
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:
1 @3 W2 X0 F( g x# o• be unemployed or underemployed.
* U2 G! \+ U5 H9 e! }" CThey CANNOT quit their job to take the course
