& m1 u: B7 A' k' Y
* T i( c4 `5 Z* h0 S8 P avoid self-inflicted setbacks (不折腾)( ~6 p) f5 Q% ?9 v/ g3 |2 }: h# G
. O0 C5 Q. l) Y
原因是:
2 x4 X0 s- v0 `$ S. u
$ z" T x( _0 {" F1 X “self-inflicted” has the connotation of creating theunnecessarypain for one self.
7 D9 p" E$ c9 `+ o& u- j. q" R* u) ] G
折腾 in Hu"s speech has a strong connotation that such kindofsetback is self-seeking instead of being due to theinterferencefrom outside.. r! p ~) N% F( F8 L, u: A
- s! f ~/ e- t& o
“Setback” is a much better word than “trouble”, whichanunseasoned translator would like to use in the firstinstance.“Setback” especially refers to the obstacle ordifficultyencountered in achieving a strategic goal. |
