6 a4 {* U' x) ZRecently OPEC reduced crude oil production twice over just a few
/ T6 N3 G7 `& h5 R1 amonths. There are three wars going on in Gaza, Iraq and Afghandistan. 4 g' k x0 T. u* T0 g
A year ago these things would have spiked the price of crude oil by at
& v1 | v0 m- w; B5 `' g2 l' a3 u4 Oleast $50.00 per barrel. Today, oil price declined by a record amount. 6 V/ q4 G3 u" U' C1 ]- t

( ^ S9 U; }1 L7 t9 @There are several reasons the price of oil is decreasing in the face " ~: n# M$ V8 O) F2 J
of so much news. These reasons are:

1. New oil has been found in Canada, Montana, North & South Dakota and - s$ n) r; w p9 `9 S

This is the largest find in North America.

3. New methods of injecting CO2 and surfactants into oil wells is

4. Production of bio-fuels is beginning to reach critical mass. Bio

racing to produce bio fuels.

5. Virtually every restaurant in the US and all food processing plants

4 I. O9 g4 N! E. W n% F$ }to bio-diesel producers. One pork processing plant in Oklahoma is
( v* ~- Y8 }" ~$ Cproducing 30,000 gallons of bio-diesel per day from pork fat.

& n" b% r' Z7 } S0 A6. There are 99 nuclear reactors in various stages of planning and
/ D# H/ F8 a+ P* r% X/ t3 Zconstruction around the world at this time. Several hundred more are
* t9 r! h8 y4 V7 B/ G* ?1 U+ W5 qexpected to be built in the future. Much of the energy they produce ) z, Z3 y3 |- \. f7 f
will replace oil.

are experiencing 20% to 25% better fuel econony with the new

Airlines are flying airplanes with bio-fuel. They are finding the bio- # ]; j, V: J4 z& {- S% n( b" X8 E
fuel is cleaner and performs better than jet fuel.

8. Cities and counties throughout the US are selling the rights to 1 Y% O9 a' a+ `" }
capture methane gas from landfills. This is a huge source of gas 6 N; j0 b! D9 j% q- R# P# b3 `
available at very little cost or risk. The gas is displacing crude
% d# l( W3 a7 P9 `& R8 Koil. ; F7 u5 e1 I1 c7 m! C) M4 u
. O; m, j8 D2 K4 i+ [* f+ v
! T4 F3 O7 ^" r0 }9. Coal is being transformed into a clean burning liquid fuel. The CO2
- r3 g2 L% `' S3 |3 iproduced as a byproduct is sold to oil companies for injection into ) B8 f8 f+ A, |/ D5 u% n+ T
oil wells.

10. Solar, wind and ocean energy is displacing oil as an energy

Each of the above by itself will not make a large difference in the
8 n' G/ f7 j) A9 }9 T" {$ R: l3 Gprice of crude oil but the sum of all of them together is world
0 |" `+ P9 m1 j+ @1 Pchanging. The important thing is that OPEC no longer has the ability 2 u' p/ H# ^3 W1 l; P5 x6 x# C3 l2 G
to control oil prices.
