: Q( |& D& s8 r    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
: F9 q+ O, }+ `* r' A- N6 W    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group5 l2 V6 n* y$ p6 |5 n; G; R) ~
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
# [: r0 l& z: t5 C1 z( ?5 u    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
( ^- P7 j2 A9 W0 P1 G8 ?    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director% |9 D0 j# s, i* r" k
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses5 J' I) _4 S! t9 a9 M+ k+ r' }
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
% a7 l  f' l  O( ^3 f1 _' B    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program3 q/ Q+ k  G) l1 ?
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment7 r3 K& u! H5 l! D
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
# J* O1 ~! i$ c2 U- O6 O( h    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
! q8 ?9 d  p- _. t0 c/ I* y+ F    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
, p1 j  v/ b5 H) [: Q% E6 v    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
# J; F9 o& r3 F$ m6 r9 q- r8 [- c    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools; W3 P' ]# B. s1 z! C/ v

Qualifications
7 C7 _8 B' f* Q# g0 z) f$ A9 J2 n9 Y! [' I& p9 J" S$ K- ]
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
% z) K8 ^1 L4 d" i/ ~3 M( |    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth# H; q6 _- J& d! T3 f$ _9 O$ j
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies2 k, S% M6 L" z$ [5 ~3 f
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
6 x0 \) w# j4 t3 m$ z# v    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community, r# @3 z6 f: \' R1 W
    * Fundraising skills an asset
& c0 r# _. F+ E# C) w    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
2 _) N, n) N- Z$ g    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
- L) }) R; x, [8 Z  y! |    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills7 I. ]1 x- ~1 r% z3 P
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
* g) \% `( W! g' M" l' o    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset3 s/ ^& l! i9 Q- A. Y
