Duties
' @% D1 V2 d& c$ H' Y
    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
" _# S/ J' s2 r8 C0 c' q+ h    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
0 `9 ~/ @7 k% G    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth

: Y; I" k& [# L7 @. M4 p# U4 a    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
9 \+ k. a) p0 Y$ e    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
2 K, _6 p3 O6 ~    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
7 T6 L3 D! u% d0 u) M    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
* h4 [/ i9 I) d( q  t) W    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
; S0 D" N& q- ?0 g+ d" l    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community

9 W; V# F8 W! `# ^- b+ g- u    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills

    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
7 T' r, J' o  k8 X- f9 e    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
& Q) F' T; G5 d4 ~- V- Q    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
