Duties
8 }; c* e* s% A. @% j9 q" s) J% `9 R2 N
    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region& W! S9 O2 X* O+ U! m
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group' C2 ^3 Q& A5 u
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
9 C9 Y1 I- }) G1 w! S+ ^    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
: c! Z) y/ n/ j6 o    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director* u  S% d6 Z/ U  B/ E$ ~9 x
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
# U; `& Q/ g4 J3 E. ~    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
6 v0 ~% u- O2 K8 j8 P) |    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program6 y3 s: T$ r: ^5 w/ N7 _
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment# f  ^: S! i& ]% @
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
) ^, \& f# v7 b4 G" [* i    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
' p9 j8 S" R3 D0 G    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly0 I1 I/ X/ z1 _/ P
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
2 o. x; p2 `/ d7 k% i" J# y- E    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications
( l% D2 P: D3 d! y: G0 L
& K" d4 y; i/ i# I    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
1 g6 H+ }0 N$ I  ?    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth  ~( u/ @# Y) m0 _
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies  S# B! L- ~- ]3 e$ y( T& ?+ N
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
0 \- S( \+ R5 o    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community$ U6 A' r/ d+ l' {9 B! W8 Z; O% X
    * Fundraising skills an asset: \% t5 O0 G, r4 `* X. O
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
- \/ N. Y# B8 s1 U  U) d    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills( Z) {3 e( b7 p
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills# I0 ?# V3 ~3 B% [& {/ S
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
