Duties

* Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region+ C g( K' v9 ~$ `
* Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group! E+ l) j2 _0 F4 r1 g7 V
* Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators" N0 Q2 z0 V7 i0 V; z5 W, Q
* Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations! V/ b/ {- j: h4 O) ?/ @
* Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
" _# S/ J' s2 r8 C0 c' q+ h * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
0 `9 ~/ @7 k% G * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth

* Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly

Qualifications& n, D. Z' R5 f. @5 G& R5 t

* Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline |/ |' ^. w5 D( A" q
* Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
* h4 [/ i9 I) d( q t) W * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
; S0 D" N& q- ?0 g+ d" l * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs: e+ G$ ?' H; e; _, G) D' o- x1 j% a
* Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
