* Z- c% J: H! @ * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region) d: i8 ^3 b) R0 E- W; T$ n; h \3 p6 w0 W
* Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
6 @3 d S8 g8 G) j: i * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
) i+ i" _% M: [3 ]1 Z$ I" l2 M) C * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
) u0 l/ j+ Y* M * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director% x% T& ]4 r, ^) |
* Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
: E& ~" c7 p$ l/ z; W& n * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
/ n' h# E3 ?9 ]4 ~3 N * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
4 L: Z" V9 B* A+ z * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment! X# P$ S" ]4 b4 `6 e0 o
* Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports. }8 D: K8 Q* u* ?, P
* Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs

* Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
* U. _3 i A# T: D# X/ X) ` * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications' q6 T, H4 e1 r! q* l
% T6 e4 h# M0 \# s& C& N! ^
* Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline6 I4 O0 }4 i# _; h5 n4 }
* Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth; U- X G& i8 Q9 K# K* N' j) {% t6 }
* Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies8 q' h; {' ^) _9 F" g8 W
* Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs1 r" e }! g+ z" i( W1 k
* Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community) M6 F; M3 D! x; y4 E7 c
* Fundraising skills an asset
