Duties
* j9 [' J2 L+ a$ S9 a. M9 ~& s; I$ {$ _! i; J8 ]9 j {
* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis" N/ T! m0 C! c
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography. a. V9 s1 c) t0 ^
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
) X% t' \7 Y+ f' M7 G9 K# y: U/ c' L * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client4 n2 v3 S6 t3 L* X3 B6 D. }
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry: u' c$ I3 \: F4 B9 X: `) N
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
( h4 g7 I+ k7 H6 F& T) R* x * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
1 r' k6 B' S2 t" x8 a1 u3 z * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
# p+ O6 f9 _3 i, |+ F$ G. | * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
( B# F' x; h. I4 ` {/ y# L( U7 o% N
* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
9 g1 _1 d! w3 ?2 J * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)2 P$ y6 T. z7 w; n
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
% F3 F3 J4 v: k7 }# y H * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures/ A) p% y7 O @/ a/ s/ e
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment) X& k( a, M- P+ @6 Y8 Y r, \0 _
