* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis, e4 D7 P- z: |
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography$ b# V6 M+ f* X8 {4 U9 _0 ^
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques8 w2 }0 y9 g2 ~
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client% s* Q, P( [0 b& c% g4 C
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
' r9 E7 T, _) V- _" k8 { * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals# ^4 n2 k; @! P( k! M
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
, E% m, D9 l7 w9 G4 V * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices6 D( k* s+ A5 V1 x
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

+ n8 X! w% q' ^Qualifications% b1 G, W% i! ]- Z
/ l1 V- v, ^& T' D * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
7 M7 }+ D* ^8 x * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)# M5 L; `5 z9 A
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
0 Q, x' Z6 m$ k' C) R * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
# x" |# k) K! D4 S( L * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
