* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis+ ]. B. ]! x0 O
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography. s9 q0 e# u4 N/ m& F- j" j
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques! n/ ]: P' s- w s
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
7 f9 D2 u6 m% X9 q * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry9 k6 l4 x$ f% L4 f; I
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
# X* b" f; h4 I/ D6 t% d * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
/ G; T& D6 |; P* M4 q4 |/ a1 A- D * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred( F# S A2 Y! H( p
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
% B$ J& F- j0 x5 Z2 v8 e! }* L' i * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel/ a; e+ d/ J2 b8 B
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures" b! v& @) i/ t# ^5 k1 U
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment' Y( Y `' u. z. I8 }5 x( j
