- g3 v: o9 ^$ }. n& q5 v, z% jAs the Corporate Financial Co-ordinator within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting office of the Finance Branch, you will lead the year-end reporting functions within the City as well as the operating fund corporate accounting, and guide the development of related policy, procedures, and strategies.  This includes:

·         Coordinating the completion of the annual consolidated financial statements, the Provincial municipal information return, and other financial reporting for audit.
+ K5 N& h' Q3 E; Q" S, h0 ?- u# X8 ~6 a0 k
·         Providing advice within the organization and to related Boards and Authorities on options for resolution of financial and reporting issues.

0 J7 A; R9 q* B$ q- w·         Research and coordination for implementation of new professional accounting and reporting requirements for municipalities.! X% r. S/ q: n* j# \

·         Leading the development of related policy and procedures, and internal training where required.( V. z) K5 g4 \% D

·         Administration of the financial accounting module of the financial information system.

* C  H- r+ O/ C·         Managing a group of professional and administrative staff, in completing ongoing corporate accounting functions.

·         Performing the regular and customary managerial functions including decisions respecting staff hire/promotion, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and leave/overtime authorization.

·         University Degree majoring in accounting or finance, and a Professional Accounting Designation.: o' L: _2 W( O# @

! z) G5 z  Q0 |3 O·         A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the financial accounting and reporting field.5 H3 o3 V0 E! A

8 M( K5 `2 R4 h7 m0 e- U  @" {- ^·         Experience with complex computerized financial systems. Familiarity with SAP would be advantageous.7 |) _6 H5 m* y

·         Experience in preparing complex, consolidated financial statements for audit.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

·         A thorough knowledge of municipal accounting and reporting practices and standards.) o+ N9 v0 j) H

, Q1 j5 ~$ {7 V+ Z) b·         An understanding of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and of commodity tax in a municipal environment would be of benefit.
