As the Corporate Financial Co-ordinator within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting office of the Finance Branch, you will lead the year-end reporting functions within the City as well as the operating fund corporate accounting, and guide the development of related policy, procedures, and strategies.  This includes:

6 K9 ?) U* u1 z; @, C" L·         Coordinating the completion of the annual consolidated financial statements, the Provincial municipal information return, and other financial reporting for audit.
! t& I: Y5 v: ~8 G; r5 E/ z3 E! ?- {- |; n1 d
·         Providing advice within the organization and to related Boards and Authorities on options for resolution of financial and reporting issues.

·         Research and coordination for implementation of new professional accounting and reporting requirements for municipalities.

·         Leading the development of related policy and procedures, and internal training where required.$ M, x& E# k: q- S: x/ Q* G" o

·         Administration of the financial accounting module of the financial information system.! G7 b4 ~+ L2 E6 Y& W0 p( E8 n

$ R5 P! x% m! b·         Managing a group of professional and administrative staff, in completing ongoing corporate accounting functions.8 X% J1 W& W1 A, d+ Z  [

' o' m* H8 c6 E5 n- X( O, U# i·         Performing the regular and customary managerial functions including decisions respecting staff hire/promotion, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and leave/overtime authorization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

·         University Degree majoring in accounting or finance, and a Professional Accounting Designation.

' R4 e; J( y: u# T) a·         A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in the financial accounting and reporting field.
! h* S" U; R! p" [
" c. a$ |+ S5 I. l% Q) ^+ H·         Experience with complex computerized financial systems. Familiarity with SAP would be advantageous.( V: t5 [" w; }" i  T, y! n

! Z/ W. w2 B2 Z·         Experience in preparing complex, consolidated financial statements for audit.$ M+ L8 F3 E$ W4 ]

SALARY RANGE:
