Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

Job Description:
7 C) [2 j$ H4 @( u7 ^* ~# Z- U- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community- p+ ~* r, V- A7 y7 h
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services: E$ M2 n5 X# X) Y7 K2 ^0 O
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services% P! d/ a# h5 f3 d M; W
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
( H0 I7 K& d S5 H- coordinate good will activities
5 q- k. f( w4 n3 _! M- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
$ Q4 Q6 W5 S, Q) M' o" b7 C- submit information for community news * X& ^- _, q; z
- prepare and send AGM information to members4 Q9 I- O3 V; ^) }+ R! G
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.+ }) o* y# w7 w: u9 M
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

' s- K- S$ s$ U, ], N- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre2 @# }2 R, }1 x5 b: s
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services$ a' y4 ~$ r) ]# |$ s
- assist in writing proposal for ISP, g5 x i. e, i$ W- J) `8 n3 l9 ^* B: c
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP( j0 V. Y0 D9 P5 u# D( b; n2 o' j- E
- explore new ideas for ISP
- f, w4 D; X! \7 {- hold regular meetings with ISP team% O6 Q' z" Z/ g0 x& w
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications7 K! r7 I9 r' e: n: n7 w7 l0 d p
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
! z( c0 ^; R- s, A+ A- S) B8 W- good oral and written Chinese and English skills8 h' Q% ?4 @- D
- experience in community work and immigrant services
* o& {& J4 ^$ s- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars' A. c1 w k$ b/ `6 M% H" j( B( `+ I
- leadership skills
