/ u% g" K, x2 w- [; I8 qPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. & ^3 q4 r) T0 |4 a+ z

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community) s; J" N0 e" [& \5 H
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services! a) ~2 ?+ x# W& w) s
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
Y$ g* H2 a; O9 \9 b+ V9 f- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

$ I1 ^% B4 h. ?- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.* N5 v) t3 \# x4 s4 a

- update ASSIST website

- assist in writing proposal for ISP; B7 j( x* G/ p% _3 V' h
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP5 Z1 i) m( C. l. M: r5 b8 [% t
- explore new ideas for ISP / {# h h4 ]3 Q1 X0 F8 W
- hold regular meetings with ISP team
* u/ I A6 C, |- f8 _/ B" Q- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time/ G! v$ J3 g' J2 ~2 d1 n& @
- update membership database- D, t: i* {# k( B/ z. m* T' R# b A N
- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications
, y# x a# r3 Y5 q' w- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
$ p& \* ^; [) J- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
; w$ S) q/ P) d) ~) ?% K+ K- experience in community work and immigrant services; ^$ f/ L( ]7 J& @. K
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars/ y9 g; t9 W! s. L/ W
- leadership skills H8 |( D1 |" X% Z9 B
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
