Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

Job Description:

- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services1 _, S2 I, R; r
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services1 ^7 [+ o* B) P" K$ M7 |
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies; K7 J7 ]: \( q+ b
- coordinate good will activities/ D( C7 }4 ` i. N$ F" B
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members! j% u( z2 ]* B. i0 f, D$ N5 l
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

! N F; p8 h/ Z+ V3 i- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services* i+ `+ b' n' A" O
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
% ?; }3 {# U: K* L' F, b5 l& Z- write quarterly and final reports for ISP
7 e, G& r% Y4 t& e- explore new ideas for ISP 0 ^8 J4 a" P! `3 x5 l
- hold regular meetings with ISP team% s9 |% I t* `
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications
4 n, [# X# f6 o* D$ V2 q* _- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
8 o- m+ D2 L7 z. o1 b" ~& y- good oral and written Chinese and English skills: I. F* g- e5 S5 u
- experience in community work and immigrant services
1 V6 Y4 t' ?5 U0 @" i$ D- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
& X$ M$ k. F8 P( b+ e" W) J3 M- leadership skills4 N9 b; `; _" z# @; m) z$ _
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
