Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. # i* w" y) i3 N y% o

Job Description:

- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
' [4 Z4 q. u* [) ]0 j- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
/ Q, F2 h3 {! |9 C/ F7 T1 x) u- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies" a) v Y+ Q8 \" z
- coordinate good will activities

- submit information for community news

) D/ I Y- C6 J7 k: O- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.9 {6 O z$ z. M1 ]1 M8 T* `2 C
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

^6 _: q( z6 E* S- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- write quarterly and final reports for ISP: C- w% G. w' n7 p8 [
- explore new ideas for ISP + E# _" \( x! W& F( K3 v: `
- hold regular meetings with ISP team

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education $ o4 V2 u/ @# Z# Z# S- x' [+ ?: |
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills D' @" \2 f v* |: q% T, [. W
- experience in community work and immigrant services; ^/ C) d( C$ F8 z; m. m a
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars( h# }8 G* Y" _3 |
