Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.3 V' m8 I6 |! f
% l" V& X- W4 h2 sFUNCTIONS:
1 Q& K/ N& I# c8 W0 Y• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
( y1 J0 d/ k) u; i1 p+ ] w• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
5 ^0 j& |- P3 R- f- f• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
6 Y I) H7 A) m) y7 @8 S5 D• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
) S6 E3 c) W& I: U• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
4 `& R; q+ j& \5 d' u0 u• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.

showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. . s! A- j+ b5 D" q
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
, v9 k0 d' R5 o8 p* \2 Yvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).
! E ?! } L& K3 |• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.
+ Z# v+ H! |' `( ^% h" @3 h• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

HOURS OF WORK:
6 q/ ?* L; C/ \4 T1 ~# M- C$ dVarious hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week
' Q+ {0 h" V i8 ^8 q5 I3 q1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
9 s0 Z4 j, N9 b h; r" F* ]/ ~Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004
