# V, B F. l& bEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.- w, x% U6 E4 u- R" S5 m+ |1 C

FUNCTIONS:
8 p. W8 ~5 P) Z• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
/ j; N, r9 ^, Z+ F3 ?) x+ W' s# ?• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
) V/ e% b% p' c' y5 l5 f/ N; p" N• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.. W; F" W' J1 e5 X
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather # j& S, D. q3 i r% c
and traffic conditions.

• Communicate effectively in a variety of situations.

) N( S' H8 x. B2 S9 b. g' Q8 v; G• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.) U2 f" a8 b( |/ }9 _, d5 p* [
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.

showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. & _! F; o" n7 n+ j; `
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
, d2 V2 U; U. a, j% `" R0 Evideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).; }1 F" n6 C8 C$ j |5 t1 f( j5 a
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week . k" a2 }9 }. H9 u1 U& M# k
1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
% K7 A! r4 z) s( ]7 u' k( _6 YThereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly2 @6 X! T$ q+ o( i, s1 ~% c4 g

Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
