Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.& H1 A* @8 x) H7 ?$ V5 O5 B& F

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.! i0 y# Z, P" O* s, W
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
$ L' _$ y( P+ R6 F( \& _• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.; ], {) C5 i; c1 e" x
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather 9 H- l0 {/ R+ \" C o* c
and traffic conditions.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset." _6 N9 J" p) W. B

to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

- `4 { `& S% A, Z7 h• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
9 g- n2 p( P7 Y/ r' J% }• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
1 I, }1 Q9 A% Q• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
2 t% V! I4 [) R l2 M• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
( K' `+ M* O% eshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
$ N8 F7 w9 E I% F" p' ` m7 [• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill & ?& v( s9 u( H) L5 O( }/ t4 o* T7 n
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
