9 k! p$ f' ?8 K' R* U6 h PEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.9 Y5 s$ C0 O' J5 ?+ n U; k
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.9 ~8 V0 h# ?1 x+ h
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.

4 v n: { ^$ L' `: m& j% c• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset./ z3 F: V' C- ^/ Y
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
( J5 T: @+ D9 }) uto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.). m' [/ m+ {5 _& j6 b' i9 z
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
$ [ a- O9 M% [• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.& |4 V( U2 h4 L
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
" ~3 Y0 @( h( W3 lshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
4 X; A8 N, x/ O( a, s- n6 q+ k; S9 k• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill $ W/ I8 K: @' E3 r A: I
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).; p3 y+ E6 ?+ s( |: p

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week & m9 u$ O. w4 d7 F
1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly; ]( i1 S& e. Y% l& h+ R
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly( F" v( w7 D( M5 w0 d
