# r, H1 \5 s9 _5 r+ e" i- hEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

FUNCTIONS:
•        Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
8 b* z9 A6 V9 O•        Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
+ }) M( \1 y7 r' E8 Y. o6 }•        Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
( M+ v: _: D" t•        Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather
( w6 |5 z" v- Y/ G% Kand traffic conditions.
% D4 i7 S$ h1 H1 }! ~* \•        Adhere to schedules.
•        Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.
# s7 l- Z8 E0 X7 v: S•        Ensure the safety of all passengers.
•        Handle diverse and challenging situations.
' ?$ W7 g. ~/ z& h) G6 q•        Communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
•        Provide excellent customer service.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•        Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
•        Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
* f: C1 G0 `: t# ?" wto be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

•        Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
•        Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
•        Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
•        Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)

•        Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
* L( |2 Q# F; p* L. o; |* Nvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).
•        Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.
3 f4 Z4 w& N# E# T" l/ \•        Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

+ v( ?; G' d5 bVarious hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week
1st year:  Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
Thereafter:  Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

SALARY RANGE:  401, Salary Grade: 004

Post Training Rate:  $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly
