The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
5 m% N  d4 y! K) y( \/ D/ usociety led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
  {4 a. ~3 X* }2 \0 G9 q0 h9 W7 fages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
% w# F2 C4 Z. ]7 _) ~) B" @organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

' t; Z' \7 }: ~1 W5 pPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
% u! [' w1 @* j2 \9 u* Sand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
: d  E$ j( F3 N8 w/ F( Mnon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
$ i' Z6 `0 S  a" _6 i/ maffairs at all times.
4 }1 e% ]! Q' C9 u9 @8 G3 f3 d! O
' k* R4 a3 c8 {% }; t  }Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
, {6 i0 @4 }1 k2 jarrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
$ ]5 v' s; g3 W: R  [* Ifor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
) c5 W1 d& A: ^! |+ U7 w0 yto implement the organizational policies.
6 v& M3 R  M+ a4 P* o. {$ C* C
PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
+ t, |. X) H% S- O$ O: o$ L' Xas per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
, ^: \0 L7 a/ ^, Q$ h* Lthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

1 j0 E/ h% Q' L; o+ H+ _) {In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
7 V' C! d8 M. c1 z  kdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
* s* g9 e0 S4 v0 Zthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

. r% t) M" ]  D, _  H$ J9 D+ YKey Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
