Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works7 x F1 ^$ L7 W0 i7 f# I$ \
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.( N. ~7 v( I2 S; I- z2 k) n
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.9 T$ R$ ^" M! U. C+ ]( ~- L+ F9 {; k
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

4 D8 P% ~- C& ]6 z' s+ J• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
# v2 A2 t9 u. }• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
$ }$ _2 v5 d* v' b/ ?• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.
; X) E( B0 L4 g, r, p/ a• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.+ S3 r$ S" J6 ^4 X, E# _! C
• Pesticide Applicators license an asset.0 q% I. n+ A: B i! s
• Labourers may be provided with rate up opportunities where required.

• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.
* K9 S8 P% g& l! \' W# h• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).
, P' T7 w0 ^& `' X• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.

• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.3 J# X! C$ k7 e, x- r6 G# L+ g
• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.
: q7 G3 _0 A: {• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.; Q3 O4 j! U! e3 z/ o9 h$ F
• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.
9 Q( a- H5 s0 E& p- S• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.9 M2 x2 Y/ j; o9 K
Functions of all positions:

& _7 g; t: N) Y& j" K! W, A; {• Assisting tradesman and other more experienced staff & performing other related duties as required.

• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.7 L N, \# p% a) }; \: I
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.
/ J% N C. K3 Y R# d( j• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment./ M+ g/ w: i$ O* X: e6 R
• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.) G2 r; E1 n( K6 [) j" b# M
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.
/ g$ e2 g) l3 p: ]- Q) v% K• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
% i& G a4 J+ g2 U2 v; X• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.
# b1 j M( p8 Z0 [9 t9 Q6 W, aHOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
' a" v, H& J4 i! T. L( ^SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
