Position: Part-time Assistant

Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
Employment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
3 o) J5 b2 k5 S; Y% X, mschedule should be reasonably flexible.

Job description
Statistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
3 S& C& L9 _! G- u. jweekend hours.
6 ^: n; K4 v; b* j8 |' ^! TYou will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
, @" K# C8 E- `( |" L% Elab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
centre.
These responsibilities include:
0 [% P; f( o* z-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
& o3 h1 f3 X$ W' erenewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
9 O+ }5 i& X- y5 lfacilities’ maintenance, etc.
-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
+ i  X( N3 T9 rclients’ files etc.
Statement of Qualifications
  i. b3 v  r) L$ tEducation:
: X9 t% J, |8 t  x8 r6 M! }: w2 i-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
education, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
7 Y$ D  L4 x  B1 o' {Knowledge/Technical competencies:
3 Q4 o- T2 _; A6 r! ^5 V-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
! D; n; h! ^; W) ~/ K" f. u-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
and Excel.
-Experience using and updating an information database.

5 ?5 Y, M0 i. L: lAssets:
-Experience in using MS Access.
-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
# U6 O! u/ e* {, L-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
8 V" p3 X" Y- M9 ZAbilities:
-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- p+ h# B2 s7 E-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
