) n4 K+ s# N% dEDMONTON — Southgate Centre today began a $108 million expansion to accommodate more than 30 new retailers and restaurants.

- S* [0 x, a# y1 A% L5 h. PThe two-year project, facing 111th Street, will add 126,000 square feet of leasable space on the ground floor — and two levels of parking above.7 J6 \% t% V N4 I2 o0 p, g c' S

“Part of the redevelopment will include enhanced site lighting and closed-circuit TV security systems monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Southgate general manager Paul Fairbridge.3 C- {% m0 ?' t

It also will include hotel-quality washrooms and private sitting rooms for nursing mothers.' O0 o! z2 V9 M8 _ h

The expansion is expected to create at least 500 new full-time and part-time jobs.
