0 ~) x0 W8 u% O+ L* kEDMONTON — Southgate Centre today began a $108 million expansion to accommodate more than 30 new retailers and restaurants.

The two-year project, facing 111th Street, will add 126,000 square feet of leasable space on the ground floor — and two levels of parking above.4 H! x$ E+ e1 B4 @2 [) B
5 ~7 f& Y5 I V“Part of the redevelopment will include enhanced site lighting and closed-circuit TV security systems monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Southgate general manager Paul Fairbridge.

It also will include hotel-quality washrooms and private sitting rooms for nursing mothers.. w' d% \7 ?% O: W b6 d2 H/ i& p- Z

The expansion is expected to create at least 500 new full-time and part-time jobs.
