1955: Westmount Shoppers' Park opens with 40 stores, 3,000 parking spaces at a cost of $5 million. Woodward's anchors Edmonton's first shopping centre.

1984: Triple Five Corporation, developer of West Edmonton Mall, buys property from Woodward's and spends $25 million on renovations.5 Q1 @( j) K" m9 Q" L

2000: New owner Dundee Developments spends $30 million on facelift. Safeway moves to the mall's south end, and Zellers enlarges its store. 2003: Sandalwood Management buys mall and starts adding stand-alone stores on "pad locations."; A1 l! j2 \+ `4 p# [- u% S2 |* T
; @& x' Q. H( {# N$ `, W% n1 UMARCH 15, 2007: First Capital Realty Inc. pays $70 million for Westmount Shopping Centre and plans to demolish part of the shopping centre between Zellers and Shoppers Drug Mart and build a $21-million Home Depot.
