Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me:
3 ~9 U2 v U. `5 ~. I! S"I am going to send it back". & T, |4 i* Q Y7 s) o4 l3 H
I did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:( x: p q% V. c9 ~2 L, v7 `
"I am sorry, what are you sending back?"
$ W) n$ U. s2 bHe said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage."
# N2 T- |% L$ |* r; M- ~- Q) r"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?"
9 ^3 _: G7 s w' n"Yes, I did."
, A+ | ?+ u$ v/ @0 D* ]2 ^+ \* o( vFinally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post. ' N) G' X- n/ l/ J- G2 r
He took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet.
' d7 R+ r* s: ^# j3 S. g/ q"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"+ Y9 Q: Y; i1 u; E0 j
"No, I am not. I do not do those things."# i1 k1 w4 Y6 q7 o# g
He took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside. 3 ?" G$ I" h( K% ^5 ~8 \! l2 G9 ~
I gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:# ^8 `' d0 n" `
"Is it okay that I do not write this part?"4 ?% n# i9 X* S' P
"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:

I was surprised: "oh, where do you live?"4 X8 A+ L" r! L, i5 v, B
He did not look up, and said: "I do not have a home."" }' m: I, D6 \% n; ~
My heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it. ' K! E8 F7 \) H! p5 C
He did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity. & _. \1 c% s) P8 X% a, Q
