Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me:

; |. f+ C4 n% s3 t( xI did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:
+ P5 a- M5 h; L3 K5 j/ p+ r "I am sorry, what are you sending back?" $ @! M, A/ s$ Y3 N- ~ \9 E
He said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage."
- W2 q/ D9 a( p"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?"
; Q7 B! O% D# W7 C. g, p"Yes, I did."
$ _! g5 s! a: B) l9 v# ?! _" I; ]Finally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post.
0 J; U/ @. g, a# ~9 p! Q/ z+ M: ~He took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet.
1 b2 Y+ h! \) I/ }( z/ o"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"
. C* x3 R4 m" z* g; P4 O3 _) w"No, I am not. I do not do those things.": S+ w' v* N$ @* x
He took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside. . t( [/ y& U' A0 V, Z C
I gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:( \( {2 g9 F9 S* Z6 T
"Is it okay that I do not write this part?"
9 S4 e+ ?3 j |1 N"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:9 r. o4 B/ i- j1 y" Q4 U
"I do not have an address."
% } F: m7 M7 B( h8 aI was surprised: "oh, where do you live?"
* l) q5 \( q. y$ u1 ]7 jHe did not look up, and said: "I do not have a home."
% ^% X/ O. _" QMy heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it. 3 n4 k4 b- y, P9 y# C
He did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity. 4 o& Q1 Y) o7 B$ @ Z) h
