1 L% r8 z1 K3 l4 v& n- T# fThe Liberals’ first federal budget was released earlier this week, and in it $570-million dollars was allocated for Canada’s tourism sector.

?! G6 P. F$ k$ c2 s" zRoyce Chwin, the CEO of Travel Alberta, tells the Alberta Morning News how some of that money will be spent right here in Alberta.

“$83.3-million, in terms of free admission for national parks, so that of course will apply here in Banff and Jasper as an example. It also looks like there’s an investment of about $66-million for new biking and walking trail within Jasper National Park.”+ z7 Z( y4 `3 V5 y! X+ v6 ~& Z. w) ^

Chwin adds that with the low Canadian dollar he expects we’ll see more Albertan’s traveling within our borders, rather than heading to the States.- R S& ^- A- I. W1 M. w, ~

“In terms of taking advantage of what’s here, we have made adjustments and improvements to the Canada website, from Travel Alberta. That’s going to show a number of itineraries and road trips throughout the province. VIA Rail will also get 34 million dollars for maintenance and upgrades. |
