The Liberals’ first federal budget was released earlier this week, and in it $570-million dollars was allocated for Canada’s tourism sector.

9 ]1 c! A' H; j+ H7 A0 m! oRoyce Chwin, the CEO of Travel Alberta, tells the Alberta Morning News how some of that money will be spent right here in Alberta.

“$83.3-million, in terms of free admission for national parks, so that of course will apply here in Banff and Jasper as an example. It also looks like there’s an investment of about $66-million for new biking and walking trail within Jasper National Park.”9 i9 O8 [) K0 H* x0 [5 C8 M, w' b

Chwin says the budget included 20 million dollars in investment for historic sites.1 ]+ j2 |* l6 ]% i

VIA Rail will also get 34 million dollars for maintenance and upgrades. |
