Edmonton – Mill Woods is one of the city’s most diverse ridings, with people who have immigrated from all over the world calling it home.& Z7 m# d, e: C! `1 H, n/ o

As a result, immigration and controversial laws around citizenship are coming up a bit more often on the doors, say candidates.

; `( o. V% S: q2 [6 MUppal also defends bill C-24, legislation that allows the government to strip citizenship from dual citizens convicted of terrorism or treason. He said when someone has been convicted and served their time of a charge as serious as terrorism it’s common sense to deport them.( L3 j& l/ ]' _; n
“If we can have their citizenship stripped, because they’re a dual citizen, than I would rather not have them in this country,” he said.% q& _: {. S& }$ |. `# o

Sohi said he would prefer convicted terrorist stay within the reach of Canadian law.

NDP candidate Jasvir Deol said the bill has many immigrant communities worried.

He said his party is unequivocal about the bill.
