$ y% U* A7 ?' y* e* L. D, z/ pThe Alberta Tories continue to slide, while the NDP surges and the Wildrose maintains the lead, according to the latest election poll released Tuesday morning.

1 w5 p" p* V$ ?4 x6 k" Y: }9 z! uThe NDP is dominating Edmonton at 51%, according to the survey, and is in a three-way race in Calgary.

: L8 `' P$ q; ]$ p Y# tThe telephone poll of 3,121 Albertans conducted Monday showed that compared to a week earlier:

NDP increased to 23% support, up 3%+ h8 ^ }: R7 m# ~# ?
The PCs dropped to 18%, down 3%
+ ?( G. \6 y( V' V1 YLiberal support is down a point, to 8%
$ V! K( ?) R! f5 s- |4 @+ Y6 wThe Alberta Party is up a point to 3%

“One thing is becoming clear at this stage of the campaign, the effect of the budget and residual anger to the governing PCs will have a lasting impact on the outcome of this election,” said Mainstreet’s Quito Maggi.9 W3 w; f% g" m# y
5 w8 a+ L$ m- h( f& |“Although the Wildrose continue to lead, their support is flat and may have no room to grow. The NDP are definitely contenders and have the momentum.”0 k$ a' q1 i+ `2 h

Maggi said there is still time for the Tories to swing momentum as, with nearly three weeks before the May 5 vote, “more and more people will be paying attention.”

' Z t! y$ t& U3 E* F- b“The window of opportunity for that correction is closing quickly,” Maggi noted.# L2 D2 H8 ?! `5 A7 `! l
9 l9 R& Q+ V# `: L0 m# b& PHe said the election could turn into a two-way race between the NDP and Wildrose, leaving the possibility Tories shift votes to the Wildrose, or vice versa, to stifle NDP momentum.

c6 O5 \4 z- j: ?6 Q+ ?The NDP showed a whopping 51% support in Edmonton, to the Tory’s 21% and and Wildrose 10%.
