Anything related to water frozen in basement is a serious issue, it has to have immediate attention.
Few minutes work if just the safety expansion valve leaks ( most probably only the valve)& d8 E8 T* h" P' [ |# f

Close the main water inlet valve;. b1 I0 q% \# `$ i* A" y% r. K
open all faucets in the house including showers to drain all water out in the pipe line;4 ^9 f. I d: o8 g, D
Close the cold water valve to the water tank if you have one; % o _$ ?7 C1 q& _! Q% DShut down the hot water tank by closing the temperature switch to off; 6 [6 Z- B# l% K+ p/ ROpen the drain valve at the bottom to drain all the water out; 1 k( }- V$ t! U) O& Y+ f- E5 y4 cThen remove the expansion valve, go to home or Canadian tire. they all have one.; ]* `; H) o" e* e

The humidifier is even simpler. The drain hose is supposed to have water go thorough the humidifier filter inside the housing and then goes to drain when furnace is on. 2 G% ?, Z& i0 p: i% r1 e0 @/ X$ @0 ]. B( P5 a. h2 G, T: g
If there is no crack at the housing connector, just re-do the connection when the furnace is off. + [; N! ]6 o/ J2 `' Q! W0 D: f1 Q 8 _4 E1 L8 o& x/ l. ~Not a big issue..
