Edmonton home builders say they are working non-stop to meet a demand they haven’t seen since the boom of 2005.

, L0 ]7 V+ `2 G/ @Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.

“Right now we're running flat out, we’re building as much as we can,” said Rob Busby, construction manager for Landmark Homes." G# l8 _) f2 J1 |0 l( B. g2 W

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.3 i/ U L6 O* w! k! S- o
. l7 k9 u' S3 q“If you look at the number of people who are moving into Edmonton, it’s record high levels so that’s contributing to that expanding demand,” she said.
