Edmonton home builders say they are working non-stop to meet a demand they haven’t seen since the boom of 2005.

6 v: O" P% \& F9 [6 bBuilders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.% ?2 y( R- v) O7 t& [/ a
/ {; U& e* T5 l! T; a“Right now we're running flat out, we’re building as much as we can,” said Rob Busby, construction manager for Landmark Homes.9 Y: q& E& v5 K: F& b' O

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.* T z o( \: ?. b

“If you look at the number of people who are moving into Edmonton, it’s record high levels so that’s contributing to that expanding demand,” she said.
