Newcomers are being offered some help when shopping for a home in Edmonton’s tight housing market.
! o7 ^% s( Z- l5 l+ m4 K& W+ QImmigrant women and their families can now access a “household toolkit” crafted by a local service group for new immigrant families, through real estate agents.

1 n7 s' f' _; |$ U% ] ]) cIn the tool kit are 75 common hand tools – like a hammer and screwdriver – as well a book on how to buy a home, a home maintenance schedule and other items. 4 k4 x [) w$ O/ {) Z

The program was announced by a group called Changing Together… A Centre for Immigrant Women. ) V; v x. ~3 M: e [

. Z' G; `/ f4 _$ PJosephine Pallard, the group’s executive director, said Alberta’s economic boom has caused a housing shortage that makes it more difficult for immigrants to find a place to live and integrate into Canadian society.
