of the new Nikon D800. Established medium-format image quality is$ C0 x h7 M( {% h$ B Z
now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3
0 ?: [ r/ M: ?megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution
: \* t( A( S/ N- H; ]within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
* G* W2 D6 \7 p, Amatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance7 _+ l# D. x& T2 c
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800% L A; m' I: N4 A' _
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
' ^( `# f# S8 f* Q6 ?+ swithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography! |9 w7 m& A& W! K* a' M& X
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
% y4 T3 P; q+ Y- Wimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was! A7 v; f& t, [+ C" Y' j. m/ w
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
8 [9 N* l+ Y' p. _3 Gconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown5 Z! {- j- m3 U+ `: \8 t) q
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,; }5 Y& k& w) R# Q: ~

Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor3 ^' |3 u& g# c v+ B7 x5 T) K e0 T
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
$ c; [5 n D% x$ \* N& ~ Deasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while; V; T8 A; Q0 l7 \# n: S" \8 c6 o
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New$ v1 V! S2 h" m6 X" v) n! T3 C
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
4 H( H5 V) Q# a' E* a' O7 Iin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is

2 b8 m: @2 {/ J& ?4 `are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
$ u1 ]% {/ x. L/ Dcountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first0 ~) @, s, K; l. s
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws$ u4 A) M b& x2 }0 \
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of4 r* K( u* {# P x9 i* f" y4 w0 p
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I( A! v; z, U, w2 N
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
! U; K2 t$ l% f, {) s+ f8 Nthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse# u% I! k+ G; H
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
& C2 h) B( f- T2 @4 g8 ]& t# Ftremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the3 D4 E/ n2 L5 [* g( V
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express! w; n8 ?1 f( G. e

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,/ {5 t3 }$ R- T% K0 I9 i
compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
