Job Description:
8 _% T" T5 p5 }1 r• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed& J+ @. j( P) Z g* N0 d J
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
7 l c6 U4 ~' m2 `9 x• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
: Y9 P5 ^7 t; q* E6 n {• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams2 M, j6 V* Y, X3 m. r0 J" }. {# T
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place/ r. {) V. @' @2 K# T% f7 m j f+ [
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment, \( O1 h! [6 Z
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
: O/ k, V2 U& ^+ q* I# y- g2 ?• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
0 ?3 z) b& m# ^% C2 @2 v• Mix paint, blend and match colors
N3 k, E( g9 k! }" j• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
, W4 ?- z3 v/ d! V+ ~• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs, s: z5 v P8 G
• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation$ c' N9 C3 Q" m# z1 p/ G( E
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling# K2 m# ]2 ?- h# l
Education and Experience Requirements:
# N! ^& P2 }, Y4 o* i• Completion of secondary school is required" {3 \1 @- b& G' o6 P* z
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program % i! y8 V* z" `# o' m+ |( \
or' F) [# J* p! g5 B/ e' f
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
& `; b2 n+ X4 f/ @2 }• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory 0 g) ~. ~9 |" W7 k2 w
