Job Description:% v* k& T P; R$ w7 _$ V7 I: ~
• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed/ ]& c/ y( h% ^1 h* N5 z
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components# u! U2 e1 ~1 u, M, z
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers2 M1 |+ o% A# \6 c) J7 E% p$ }0 D3 g
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams. l% f- R! e2 X/ p7 m, J
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place4 ?4 B! j: n# B
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment' T. B: V1 A4 [6 m
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
1 O" W8 {+ |6 p• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting; X9 F# k e1 B% ]$ w
• Mix paint, blend and match colors
4 _; V! w/ ]6 H7 m( T+ R+ Z, f- ~+ W• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns8 b* [* G3 V+ W" U; a
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs* s' d* D7 v* ?# |& i# K+ p
• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation
" e4 j. Z' B' k9 t! ]• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling" L$ G0 s. |' [5 z5 K w& g
Education and Experience Requirements:
1 W9 D: V" y2 d! ?! l" A• Completion of secondary school is required
j% ~5 C0 |; N8 \• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program
- X T- R/ v) k* s- _# Wor4 T% C; W1 F% Z$ G! [: s# }5 h
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
& F* q4 l d. J/ |; C( Q• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory 5 p$ O% A, l9 t5 I( j
