Job Description:5 J- v2 {* g4 ]! ~1 x) z) X& U( w
• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed% Z' G! G- M: B4 P
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components% }4 ]1 v8 K4 ?
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers; f! ~/ \# K% k5 ]
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams7 k7 X- p. u& x; B
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
1 l5 U: T( a8 p• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment; p" P) ]& ~; }% T K: t! j" Q7 b
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
1 B$ y" Y q. \( n6 J/ Q8 z/ Q• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
* Y& w- N+ y) `7 w' A! B• Mix paint, blend and match colors
' T! H: S- [4 c' J4 z• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns: K, q+ A" A% a( M; _0 g6 G) I h4 j
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs- R% \, Z( e2 m' b4 x" _
• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation8 M1 V1 j& \ m3 p) T. f+ ]8 F
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling8 e6 x/ P6 z" e3 H" V1 ^
Education and Experience Requirements:
; v" i; i% v/ H4 t0 b+ R) T8 Q: z8 n• Completion of secondary school is required$ H) c% p1 W# {! R
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program 0 J# F2 b' M0 q+ u! k7 Z$ v
or
a8 R2 v1 [( @# sA combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade : K4 a3 \) W5 z6 a3 c
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
