YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
- X& |1 N$ A9 \5 B; O( Nnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
! y' q1 m  h; y/ Ypeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
" Z( y0 {: D! }3 t& z$ D3 GThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
5 h9 i  o+ z% z, k2 R6 g
+ ^- [3 p  x& k7 {( d7 M' cproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
3 e! A4 Q; K7 V& O8 }! zemployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
0 s5 s- w: O. }The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
7 I' D- P* v: q, I9 {" A2 S. \the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
8 C) ^- Q% N; a5 D: e9 mAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
5 U2 c6 @- u1 c6 R( `and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
; F: f5 t, v- B( gfollow-up once the program is completed.

, i/ d2 j- p6 R" s' b2 K# J& PVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
