YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
' U# P$ V- Y% S+ L7 LAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
! |' Z9 t# F0 G7 M# anine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
6 E) k: t% x# |peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
- D8 s3 `7 A" e
project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
/ S) p4 F% Z! c7 ~" S$ ^; ]/ N5 uemployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
3 j  S3 ~6 a6 k% N! M. f8 Q7 P& jThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
" o% v; E  f1 k7 w# Mpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
