YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
0 e5 ]  H2 r4 j3 tAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
! c6 n, d- v" b* a# R. snine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

6 @( k1 N- X  x" ]+ Iproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
& j0 m! {+ h9 ]2 X3 demployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
; Q& V0 W4 [. W0 x8 h8 athe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
" g) G3 E0 `" A, Z' FAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
. {6 M# @' o5 x. S& yand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
2 l3 ]9 n0 _& ^' u! y' [5 K0 Z/ Wfollow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
