Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
$ g8 l* S6 f# R* K- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
" S* K! N- r2 D: s! b- |  \% ]/ g+ j- provide support to ISP staff
- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
& ~% U. u( ^$ I, b- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
; o1 Y: |' r. h4 t0 M. [( ]' c- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
: M0 I2 ?' i  I$ }4 ~( k0 n0 h- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
$ O& `$ P, j7 d' N$ {- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
  W1 x& x+ \. j3 \9 k/ j. S- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
/ S& t6 n0 U- K# a2 I- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
+ \" e4 d; c, w- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
' {, R' u) O4 }* A- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
- good interpersonal and people skills
- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

Other
- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

Salary
& e+ _2 I  T) L: J- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
