Duties
) l% g; u4 c. V& x6 dDevelops and updates the graphic user interface including program interface (menus, dialogue boxes, file editing, etc.) using C++ or Java or other languages to allow users to compose run scripts and edit input files for a FORTRAN model
. `6 f l& s( j7 TGenerates dynamic visualization of numerical output from the model using VTK or other visualization tools, linked to explanatory documents
3 O" u, ^% p: O! OWorks with staff in the MACI to determine ways to deal with the data and find innovative approaches of presenting results) B$ m) ]) [8 {4 r
Implements interface and visualization on portable media (CD and website) for use in research and teaching; implements the mathematical model "ecosy" in parallel mode on computing facilities available; |, O) p0 ]( G, N
Provides technical support to teaching initiatives at undergraduate and postgraduate levels using the mathematical model with the graphic user interface7 |; L) v) r3 c+ u: Y$ k# T' U X6 l
Installs software and provides user support; liaises with users to enable their productive use of the software: _* l- B" o3 s3 A. \3 b
Qualifications
( ~0 m' `2 p1 @. g9 j9 iB.Sc. in Computing Science with specialization in interface development6 c1 {" @9 x/ V2 n* _1 C) W" {; a
Related experience with interface development; interest in terrestrial ecology and global climate change an asset
) u9 M; ]8 j S! F0 [ o4 NProgramming in C++ and Unix, website development and maintenance- \* X( r0 g$ X( J
